Are their any T$$AA rules regulating the age of a student that plays sports in HS ie.. the girl that will be 19 as a senior. Is that legal. How Old can you be as a senior and still play.>>>?

I don't know, but obviously 19 is o.k., because being a (year behind) in school is not at all uncommon. so if there is an age limit, it must be at least 20 or more.

if you turn 19 after august 1st of that calender year yes you can play

before august 1st no

so technically if you get held back 1 grade you are all right but if you are held back 2 grades you have no senior athletics

Thanks, I guess that answers that . White House Heritage has a girl on the team that is 17 now as a Sophomore. She has been playing Varsity since 8th grade(Heritage is a 6th grade thru 12th grade school). I was just wondering about eligibility during her Senior Yr.

And Keeping with the Post TOPIC Heritage has a Freshman that was featured in the ON magazine this month as our "break out player" her name is Shelby Rae. She has started every game this year as a shooting guard, with emphasis on Defense. She is the top freshman catagory.

I have been a coacht fan for years, but have just now been moved to log on and participate in any discussions.

On the subject "BEST FRESHMEN IN TENNESSEE," I will pose the following questions:

What if there was a freshman that averaged legitimately 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 blocks per each of the 21 high school varsity games she played in?

What if that freshman has had many "triple double" games and has had 3 games where she had "TRIPLE TWENTY" stats (that is where she had at least 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 20 blocked shots)?

What if that freshman got these numbers while being consistantly double and triple teamed, and occasionally quadruple teamed?

What if that freshman was single handedly responsible for holding opponents 2 point field goal percentage to 37%?

What if that freshman plays in one of the toughest districts n AA and has played top 5 state ranked competition in both TN and KY?

Is there any other freshman in TN that has had this kind of impact?

Is there any other freshman in TN that has had these kind of stats?

IF ALL OF THIS WERE TRUE, IN ADDITION TO BEST FRESHMAN IN TENNESSE, SHOULD SHE BE CONSIDERED FOR MISS BASKETBALL?

This freshman does exist. These numbers are legitamate. I was just curious to hear anyones opinion

Does her team have a 10-10 record on the year?

Yes, it is Kayci Ferris of Smith County. Yes the record is 10-10. Yes she is 6' 8" tall. Does any of that take away from her impact? Very few players of any grade classification demand that the opposing coach gameplan specifically for that player, especially a freshman. The fact that Ferris has such a weak supporting cast should only add to the fact that she is not only a great freshman, or a great player, but also among the best in the state.

I know shes already been mentioned, but we have to bring her name up again. What about the job Jordyn Luffman did and everything she contributed to the win against Shelbyville Friday night. She played one of the main roles in shutting Jarrell down. She has to be at least thought about for the freshman of the year in District 8aaa in my opinion.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
