Is Bradley scared of Baylor?

Now, I'm confused. If what Timcol says is true, why does BC wrestle Parkeview, Collins Hill, SD, and these "wonderful" tournaments out of state? One would assume that they do so to wrestle good competition to make them a better team. They don't have to wrestle them and they are certainly are not in D1, so why put Baylor and McCallie in a different category. I would assume that both of those teams would provide "wonderful competition" and it wouldn't affect them at all in the D1 standings. I for one would have loved to see some of the match ups with BC this year. They are a great team, and it wouldn't have surprised me if they would have beaten both teams soundly.

Bradley can wrestle teams (both public & private) from out of state and it is a win win ++++ for them. If they take a loss it was not to a team from Tennessee but if they win against a ranked team they can claim that they are trying to wrestle the best competition in the country.

This is an old topic and anyone that knows anything about high school wrestling knows that Bradley is like the Brandon, FL teams coached by Russ Cozart.

Listen up twit. We wrestle who we wrestle and couldn't care less what you think. Your a DII crybaby hiding behind a screen name. I am somewhat surprised you have posted about a topic other than your favorite topics.....

1) The DI-DII Split DEADHORSE

1a) The State Tournament should be combined. DEADHORSE II

Not for certain, but I believe you are a FR guy. That said, it's probably a good idea we don't see you guys very often. The last few meetings didn't have a pleasant ending for the Irish.

Why in the world would you say that? I think that they should have earned your respect by now. I know they don't care if you respect them or not, but da#### they are a great wrestling school that year in year out are top 4 in the whole kitandkabuttal State. H@lll, Father Ryan might not win 4 matches against Bradley. What did ya'll do against Baylor? And you might not win but 1 against Soddy

Sorry to upset you so much that you would feel the need to throw insults at me (twit) on a message board. I guess that I could continue the circle by calling you names and trying to insult you but all that would do is pull me down to your level and everyone knows that you would win on experience.

Like I have said many times before I am a Middle Tennessee public school graduate that has retired (do not own a home in Tennessee) to South Florida where I fish one day and play golf on the next day and try to complete the "honey do list" for my wife. I do know some people that graduated from Father Ryan (many years ago) but I can't say that I have a close relationship with anyone at Father Ryan now.

If you thumped the Irish as badly as you claim during the last few meetings then what is the big deal? When is the last time that the two teams wrestled in a dual or in the same tournament? Was it before the split because I didn't know that Bradley wrestled Tennessee private schools?

Like I have said before the Bradley program and the Brandon, FL team coached by Russ Cozart are very much the same.

The issue is the negative stuff on Braden this year and the precieved way they protect their home winning streak.

That is an insult to the Bradley program, if that is what you intended to infer. The number one ranked team in the state of tenn came to Jim Smiddy gym this year and wrestled. How does that equate to the Bradon Florida team or how it seems that Bradon backed out of a tournament at some other venue. Relate that to the way the program has been run at Bradley.

I may have missed it, but I do not understand your comparison.

To answer your question, the last time that Bradley wrestled Father Ryan, it was at Christian Bros. H.S. Duals Jan. 2005. I'm not sure about the score but I believe Bradley defeated Father Ryan H.S. by 9 points. I am sure that Bradley won.

Wait one minute Bayou. Got nothin but love for ya, but I gots to keep you straight as you recently leaked out on this board the true reason for the red and blue drought was to leaverage the public's desire for the matches to the point where you can remove obnoxious posters from our happy forum in exchange for a dual. Always thinking ahead...I bet you were an eagle scout.

Baylor won the 1999 Bradley Inv. by a solid margin, Bradley came back and won the duel meet by a solid score, lots of swing matches from the tournament 3 weeks prior . wrestling fans would love to see this match-up resume, including myself.

Rocky14533.....You are half right and half wrong. Baylor did indeed win the Bradley Invitational that was held on December 17th & 18th, 1999. Baylor had 249 points and runner up Bradley had 206.5 points. Huntsville, AL placed third with 136.5 points and Ringgold,GA placed fourth with 135.5 points.

Baylor and Bradley did NOT wrestle a duel match 3 weeks after the Bradley Invitational of 1999. You need to check your facts before you make statements like "Bradley came back and won the duel meet by a solid score, lots of swing matches from the tournament 3 weeks prior." This is just not true.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
