Well I figured some of the older guys could bring up some of the older players from Morgan County history that us young people dont know about and compare them to todays players. People from Wartburg can do Wartburgs all time and people from Sunbright do Sunbrights all time.. and so on.

 

Just wondering about the history if someone had to make 1 all star team who would they have?

I can't think of a better lineman than Ben Jackson. The ONLY person, I know of, in county history to make All-state on both sideds of the ball. He also made a prep All-American team his senior year. THE most dominating player I have ever seen come out of Morgan Co.

Ben Jackson was a good player. Just undersized and not very athletic for DIAA. What about Jay Moore. I think he played a lot at Middle.

If I’m not mistaken, Wartburg’s Jay Moore attended and played for MTSU, and started for three years. Wartburg also had a player on the 1951 National Championship team at Tennessee.

You have to through Briton Griffith in the D-Line mix. He had something like 160 tackles at Defensive end. He also received MVP in the region. That’s pretty good for a D-End from Morgan County, with the likes of Alcoa, Loudon, Rockwood, Sweetwater, & AE was in there region also I think? Went to Carson Newman.
