Not much talk about Aaron Douglass who is the best of the bunch. Honestly anytime maryville needed a big play last year Douglass was the man and not maples. A jump ball that he came down with every single time.

I agree, but that is not Aaron's fault. He's suffering from ECS, Early Commitment Syndrome. IMO, he is the top "prospect" in TN. He has the athletic ability to play TE in the SEC, the frame and blocking technique to play LT, and the raw skills and demeanor to play SDE. If he had not verballed to TN so early, there would be much more buzz around him. IMO, he is a better "prospect" than B. Jones, the current # 1. A lot of folks tend to talk about versatility only with repect to skill players, and I think that is short sighted, and that Aaron is as versatile in his own right as Sommer, Wilkes, Walls, etc. He is an outstanding blocker, runs good routes, has very good hands, and if all else fails, he will play on Sundays because he is pretty close to mastering the art of long snapping. Having said all that, Maples was the man. Yes, when Maryville needed a big play, they went to Aaron, but they would have needed many more of those big plays if it were not for Tyler.

Last year W.B. played T.J. Walker on the weak side and he and Aaron didn't face each other that much, plus Walker was hobbled in the Mairvul game and he played very little.

 

I heard W.B. is going to a 3-5 this year, so I don't know how that will shake out.

If they do, and they stay healthy, those that are predicting WB to have a good yr. based on Defense will be rght. You need speed, sure tacklers, and "tweener" DE/OLBs that can get push on and OT, but cover a TE Coice route. If the coaches scout well, and or the opposing offenses are predictable, WB will run & pass blitz folks relentlessly. They could go far.

You guys need to check out Bryan Wisdom, Page High School....transferred from Independence High. This kid is one of the fastest on the field and will be moving from RB to WR with the Patriots for the 2007 season. He should see action on both sides of the ball as he is an excellent asset on defense as well. He somewhat small at 5'10 and 170lbs but is an explosion in the open field with great hands. Started varsity with IHS as a freshman and sophomore, should be incredible with Page as a junior and senior. Had some great returns for IHS last year.
