2006-2007 State Tournament Predictions

Division I

State Champions: Soddy Daisy

Runner Up: Bradley Central

145

1) Kelly Felix (Franklin) 2) Brett Shields (Pigeon Forge)

3) Alex Spletzer (Soddy) 4) Richey Ward (Ravenwood)

Others to watch: J.D. Alexander (Mont Cent), Tim Stephens (Ooltewah), Caleb Proctor (Blackman), Dustin Jones (Springfield)

Altough not predicted, Kyle Chandler ( 145# - MLK) is one to watch this year. He is a Freshman with a solid performance of 42 and 5. He has yet to be pinned and has not given up by more the 6 points. Still young but has strength, speed and gaining experience fast. Watch for him over the next three years.

Do you mean not lost by more than six points? If that is true, what happened in the region final against Derrick White, I believe it was a major decision. Also, Derrick White is a name to watch for in the state tournament.

You are correct, a major decision defeat in the regional final. Chandler and White both split one and one during the season. I agree, White, a senior, will be a wrestler to watch for at state. As I stated before, Chandler, a freshman, will be one to watch this year at state and for the next three years.

Watch out for Zach Herndon from Bolton HS. The kid is a goer!!! Don't know if he's been wrestling very long, but he is very tough!!!! I don't think he lost as a 112 pounder all year. He could definitely pull a big early upset!!! I'll be surprised if he doesn't place!

I saw Herndon wrestle at the Yellow Jacket. Yes, he has the capabilities and looks real good! If he does not place he will still put up some good matches.

QUOTE(Coach119 @ Feb 13 2007 - 11:41 AM) 826370147based on the brackets...if Marcum and Watkins both lose before semis...(and looking at the bracket the odds are not in their favor...I would say odds are Marcum loses in the first round and Watkins loses in the 3rd round to Croy) they will meet in the consolation Quarterfinals(and that will decide who will place)...Please correct me if i am wrong

You nailed that one pretty good, Coach 119. Watkins and Marcum did meet in the medal placement round of the consis-----one of the last matches on Thursday night. Marcum won a nail-biter, 3-2.

QUOTE(CoachBray @ Feb 20 2007 - 04:05 PM) 826381484I predicted:

10 of 14 Champions

19 of 28 Finalists

63 of 84 Placers

for Division I.

Coach Bray:

This was your prediction for 189:

189

1) Tyler Roberson (Soddy) 2) Landon Hall (Maryville)

3) Chris Wolfe (Ravenwood) 4) Cameron Croy (Brentwood)

5) Cody Quick (Tullahoma) 6) Austin Marcum (FRA)

Pretty good picking------that's exactly how that weight class finished.

I'm looking to retire early. Can you provide me with a filled out bracket, with final four and champion, for this year's NCAA Basketball Championships. Need it by Friday when my flight leaves for Vegas. I'm meeting Bear Cat Brown and HarryT there. Thanks.
