I think Brandon would be a nice fit with the coach who said this:

"What makes the horse who won worth $100 million and another who finished second nothing? He doesn't beat him by 14 lengths, he wins by a nose. But he wins by a nose every time. To get that 2 percent every time might require an extra 40 hours of work a week. The last 2 percent is the hardest, and that's the one that separates it all out. That's where you go from good to great. But that's where it requires more effort. That's what you're here to do as a coach. That's what you're here to instill in people."

"Life is very simple. Most people know what to do to be successful. You can go to a high school right now and ask any kid what it takes to get an "A," and they know exactly what they have to do. But sometimes they choose not to do it. Life is all about choices. I don't want to spend five years on a one-year problem. It doesn't mean I won't have problems in five years, but I don't want to have the same problem. ... We get to choose everything. It all comes down to choice, but the beauty of it is, God gives us the power to choose."

I've seen first hand how many extra hours this kid has put in on the mat and I have no doubt he will be successful wherever he chooses to go. Personally, I'd like to see him wear the Maroon and Gold

in the land of 10,000 lakes.

i personally would like to see him go to UTC because the practices and wrestle offs between him Felix, And Waddell(sp?) would be great to see no to mention i think they would boost the competion level of each other which would mean better wrestling outta UTC in those weights and they would be good ole boys representing their home state

Why not?

I think you pretty much have to have a 3.75-4.0 GPA and a 28+ ACT score to go to an Ivy League school. He is a smart kid and a good student, but he doesn't quite meet the academic requirements. He could get into most public schools, but those schools are in another league (yes, pun intended).

I heard through the rumor mill that he wasn't going to college to wrestle. Looking at possibly Auburn. Heard that at state.

I think the idea is that he's going to pick the college he likes the most, and if they have a wrestling program, he will consider it. I know he's not going to just go to any school that will give him a wrestling scholarship.

QUOTE(REGIONX @ Feb 19 2007 - 05:29 PM) 826379578[/snapback]Lot opinions about a young man's decisions.

Let's not base our ideas on "I heards"!

I don't need a lesson on my ideas or my opinion. I simply stated what I heard while at the state tournament from a Houston coach that was asked the question of "where is Brandon going to school next year". The coach answered "probably Auburn". Am I going to take that "to the bank". Nope. Just passing along what information I was given.

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
