QUOTE(backinthaoc @ Feb 23 2007 - 10:08 PM) 826386491[/snapback]Final from Union City.....

McKenzie-41

Union City-57

Union City advances to the Region 7A Semi-Finals at West Carroll High School....

Union City has now won 5 straight and 11 out of their last 14.....

Anna Trull led McKenzie with 31 points...

backinthaoc, were you at the Union city game or one of the others you're reporting on? If you're a union city fan, we want to complement the etiquette of your fans. Even though a loss hurts, it means a lot to see and hear lots of union city fans and even the coach coming up to #25 with all kinds of compliments that really makes a player feel good. And she is a real player and deserves all the recognition she gets. Just wish we could have won. I know she wanted the win bad. The game seemed closer than the score indicates. Good luck in the rest of the tournament and thanks again for showing what class you have.

Union City has been blessed to see some outstanding boys teams play over the years...They have also seen some very good players compete against them, both boys and girls...UC fans recognize talented players and they acknowledge them..Anna Trull is a player....I think Union City fans get a bum rap sometimes for being arrogant..For the most part, well for the vast majority of the time actually,Union City is a very hospitable place to play and the fans are generous with their praise of the opposing team....

Region Semis shape up like this....

Gleason vs Union City....

UC & Gleason meet up for the third time this year...The regular season champs vs the tournament champs..Union City has been playing really well of late, winning 11 of 14....Gleason brings their gaudy 30-1 record and Miss Basketball finalist Kayla Hudson to the party..Gleason has had Union City's number since UC's move down to 1A ball winning all five meetings.....Union City plays Gleason very tough everywhere except at home...Look for a close, hard fought game in this one.....

Lake County vs Clarksburg....

First meeting of the year for these two.....Lake County squeezed out a win at home over West Carroll and Clarksburg dispatched 14A member Bradford in Clarksburg....Lake County is a very athletic team that seems to be a little streaky...I know nothing of Clarksburg.....

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
