This region is crazy.

CCS (4th seed) beats Tyner (1st seed) by 10 points.

Brainerd (2nd seed) beats Hixson (3rd seed) by 15 or so.

East Ridge (1st seed) beat Polk (not much of a surprise)

Howard (2nd seed) beats Boyd (3rd seed) by five.

up next-

CCS vs Howard (if Boyd came play with them... CCS should be able to) Howard is playing without Darius Ricks. He is a difference maker. I would hate to see Howard lose after such a great season. CCS would have to play very well.

Brainerd vs East Ridge - this should be an awesome game. If Wells is hot, Brainerd could go down. Nice to see all-hamilton County going up to Clev State for region tournament.

I am surprised by CCS winning at Tyner. Not too surprised by the Brainerd score. Brainerd is tough if you play man and that is what Hixson plays. Boyd played well. They had a great plan for Howard. They played zone most of the game. Howard does not shoot it well. Why anyone would play them man is beyond me. When Boyd had to go man, they had alot of trouble. Boyd still had their chances. They missed a few easy looks and were a little passive at the start on offense. But they gave it great effort. Congrats Howard and Boyd on a well played game.

This whole region is good. There are at least 10 good teams in this region counting the 8 that played tonight and then count Polk and Sequatchie. Maybe even throw Meigs into the equation. Tough region. Tellico was a . 500 team from district 5AA and Boyd played a killer schedule and won 18 games.

Fun region. Congrats to all winners. Losers have nothing to be ashamed of.

What I like about this region is the mutual respect that the players and coaches seem to show for each other. I know the coaches and players in district 5 have great respect for each other.

Howard has a classy program. Coach McGary (and their staff) does a great job for the Hustlin' Tigers. Satterfield and Allen really stepped up for them tonight. The second quarter doomed the Bucs chances. They played well except for about three minutes in the second. The Tigers took advantage of that stretch and held on for the win.

Congrats to the Tigers and best of luck. The semis and finals at CSCC should be fun.

Correct.

Howard seemed to be lost without D.Ricks. Taylor didnt step up like he should have and Allen didnt play up to his potential. I wouldnt be surprised if they lost to CCS because PG is the Achilles heel for the tigers. As the tournaments have begun Reynolds has been cracking under pressure. Satterfield has to play like he did against Brainerd. But without Ricks this team seems to be in a daze and without him I am not sold on them but when they have him thats who I place my money on.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
