QUOTE(bulldawg-fan @ Mar 14 2007 - 10:29 PM) 826412329[/snapback]Several people have valid points about shot clocks. But, first let me say, I have seen Gleason lose by a few points and the other team hold the ball. I never heard of anybdoy including myself start begging for a shot clcok. A team loses a state championship game and instead of admitting that it just wasn't their night, they want a shot clock. I guess they think that would have made a difference. Let's assume we put shot clock in for next year and the same two teams meet in the state championship. Once again, Gleason wins but this time by 100pts. I would bet the same OS fans that think a shot clock is a great idea this year would be on here saying it was the stupiest thing TSSAA ever done.

What I disagree with the most is the fact this thread started after the game on Saturday. Several OS fans, regardless if you are one of them or not, has stated we need a shot clock. Why? because in my opinion, they believe if they had a shot clock on Saturday they would have won. Also, it's my opinon, that if you take the same situation and OS could have caused some turnovers or stole the ball and won the game even by 1pt this thread wouldn't even be a topic.

I disagree with a shot clock, but I promises you I don't disagree with a shot clock near as much as I do using it for an excuse. Since obviously you believe there should be a shot clock let me ask you a question. You are in a game and leading by 2pts, there is 38 secs left in the game, and there is NO shot clock. Are going to hold the ball for 38secs and win the game or would you shoot the ball at the 30 sec mark and give the other team a chance to tie or even win the game? You, OS fans, and OS players would hold the ball to win the game. Bottom line this whole thread is nothing more then a poor excuse for losing a game and not having defense that could do anything about it..... The real problem is a bad defense being dominated by a good offense strategy. The excuse is no shot clock. TSSAA has annouced there will be no shot clock.... Guess teams better work on their defense or just stink it up. I have to give some credit to Gleason. I really believe instead them winning by 25 or 28pts like they did in the first two games, they were just trying to pass the ball around and keep the game close, so OS would like they actually deserved to be in a title game with Gleason.. I guess it was a bad decission they should have just blowed them out like they did Forest & Jackson Co.

Believe me, I couldn't care less if OS ever wins another game and that is no disrespect to the school. WIN by 100 pts? You are even less intelligent than I first thought. You need to call the NCAA tournament committee and get Gleason in the dance. They probably would deserve the 1 seed the Lady Vols got. No they wouldn't because the shot clock would keep them from holding the ball 2 and 3 minutes at a time. As far as the 38 sec scenario, I would be for turning it off in the last 2 minutes of the game. You need to keep talking crap about your team, all the while disrespecting the coaches, players, and fans of Oliver Springs. As far as me, MY team was in the tournament but it wasn't OS.

No disrespect to any coaches, or teams. Gleason was not the team that start crying about a shot clock. Now, you are saying you would turn the clock off in the last two min of the game. Good answer and great way to avoid the question. So, now you are saying that if Gleason had the lead with under two minutes you would be ok with holding the ball. My only point is this, there is no shot clock in high school basketball, so why use that for an excuse. When people are making comments about wanting a shot clock and they bring up the game from this past Saturday it really gets under my skin. It's like they believe OS should have won and the only thing they can come up with is the excuse of a shot clock. I want argue the fact it might or might not have made any difference in the outcome of the game. I really don't even care if they add a shot clock. Just don't use it for an excuse...

YOU ALL KEEP COMPLAINING SAY THE SHOT CLOCK IS FOR "INFERIOR" TEAMS -- AND TEAMS SHOULD JUST BUCK UP AND PLAY "BETTER" DEFENSE ---

LET'S LOOK AT THE OTHER SIDE ----

LOOK AT IT FROM THE OFFENSIVE SIDE ---- HIT ALL YOUR SHOTS WHEN YOU GOT THE BALL

AND YOU WILL STAY AHEAD ---- mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

lol...I got one for you..back a few years ago I forget who was playing either Chester Co. or Mcnairy Co. v. someone else...the final score was 8-4 in double ot!!! beat that! but no shot clock is needed IMO...games like this happen RARELY....if a team is up by 7 or so and running out the clock to secure a win...why don't the other team just foul them and put them on the line to possibly make a comeback...nevermind gleason was 20-20 in one of the games so thats out of the question...

I am taking a survey. This is a tough one, but let's be objective. Duke Lady Blue Devils vs. Gleason. This game will be played without a shot clock. My money is on Gleason. They are invincible.
