QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 20 2007 - 04:42 AM) 826418175[/snapback]Soddy, because of their previous season and reputation, is the team to beat in AAA.

Maybe their previous season means something to you but this year they got off to a pretty slow start in preseason. They lost to Beech, Brentwood, and Riverdale, all top teams in AAA this year. If they want to be the team to beat this year they better step it up. If their pitchers do not get a strike called for a ball thrown off the outside of the plate they get in real trouble fast. That is my perception. I will give them this, they are a pretty good hitting team.

Soddy like always has good coaching and good kids on the team. They will be ready when it counts as always. You cant judge the preseason on any sport.

I really dont think you can count the beech playday as actual games. and im assuming fastpitch101 thats what your talking about when you say they got beat by Beech,Brentwood, and Riverdale they were switching positions in and out and changing the line up around. no team at the Beech playday saw Soddy's starting team. Riverdale had something like 2 hits and and the games were only an hour. After the Worth Tournament we will see how Soddy stacks up then. but please lets not talk about a play day that wasnt even full games.

Soddy is a great team , but so are Beech, Riverdale, and Brentwood. Preseason games do not count against your record, but they are indicators no matter if it is an hour and 15 min long game or 7 inning game. Pitching is pitching and 9 runs is alot to allow in three "short" games. No doubt they will get better. One thing is for sure all these teams can hit! I wish all four teams the best of luck in the season. All four are full of very talented young ladies and anything can happen from now to the state.

    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
