QUOTE(blackbunny @ Apr 5 2007 - 11:12 AM) 826430685[/snapback]Can anyone provide directions from Knoxville to the Soddy Daisy Tournament?

Thanks!

Take I-40 west to 27 south, take Soddy Daisy exit just past the Lake (if you look to the right at that time you will see the park) take a right at the exit, take a right at the signal light the park will be on your left. easy.

Last I heard and saw today, Baylor beat Soddy 1-0 to start the gold bracket this morning. Rhea beat I believe CAK in the gold pool. Meigs beat Sale Creek in silver, Sequatchie beat Oak Ridge 7-1 in silver and lost 3-2 to Whitwell in Silver. Whitwell was to play Meigs. Oak Ridge seemed a little overmatched, gave up 7 home runs in one game yesterday to GPS but they're competing in a tournament where they can learn and get better from the competition. From the games I saw Mt Juliet might have the strongest pitching from the teams that were left, but other teams seem like they hit the ball better at least by a bit. If you can limit the opponent to one or no runs, though, that doesn't matter most of the time. Sequatchie played one of their better games of the season overall last night against Red Bank but a crucial error on an easy play near the end helped Red Bank win 3-2. A freshman pitched and gave up no earned runs, three sophomores each hit a double. I think the snow got the players excited despite the cold temperature.

The silver championship game was a great game to watch. Whitwell had a solo homer in the second inning i believe and led 1-0 into the seventh until a girl from cookeville hit a solo homer to tie the game. Whitwell had a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh but couldnt convert. Sudden death 8th inning where the runner starts on second, cookeville hit two straight doubles scoring 2 runs putting them up 3-1 and then whitwell got to bat and scored one on two sacrafices. 3-2. Then another runner got stranded on second. It was a great game from both teams and have to say CONGRATULATIONS to both teams on a great game

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
