best fields in EAST Tennessee

though id have to say knoxnavigator is a moron (haha), Campbell Co. is probably the most underrated field around.

Many people may not get to see their field besides Halls, Powell, Central and others in that district, but standing behind the plate at Campbell Co. looking out into the field is beautiful! It gets chilly up there, but it's worth carrying a jacket in. The grass is green, the cutouts are done well.

I've played at all the Knoxville area schools for my four years of high school and still around these fields in this area and Farragut has the best field around. I have seen William Blount's field and its a close second, but I'm telling you...it is SMOOTH at Farragut.

To me,though, these teams need to spend more time and money working towards becoming better teams than competing on who has the best field. Beat Farragut in a game, not in a comparison of fields. (I know this is all about best field, but this discussion has been going on for several years and people keep putting more money into their fields--good fields dont make good teams--I wanna see some great teams that have crappy fields! haha)

QUOTE(scorecard10 @ Apr 11 2007 - 09:42 AM) 826434664[/snapback]I have been to MANY ball fields in Tennessee over the last 30 years and DB's is the best field I've seen. As for, the Rookie league, J. Fred Johnson Stadium has hosted not only the NY Mets but the Detriot Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Atlanta Braves. If you have not been to the new Rookie League field in Kingsport (Hunter Wright Stadium) then you need to pay a visit there. This field is just as nice as J. Fred.

I have to agree. I went to J Fred Stadium this week to watch the Coca Cola Classic. It's a nicer facility than you will find in most small college parks. And the playing surface is kept to near perfection. Unfortunately I think most of us here in Kingsport take it for granted until we travel to other parks.

The BEST fields arent farragut, or w.b...they might have the best view but a popup gets outta there..i have never seen DB's field but i would have to say it would be up there. an old minor league park seems to be a good field. All these teams have people hitting 15 bombs a year cuz they play in cracker jack boxes.

The BEST fields in TN are the ones that look good and have the dimensions. Any one know of any of these?

I don't think a field is bad because it is somewhat short. From all the games I've seen at Farragut most of the HRs weren't pop ups. Everyone there knew it was gone when it was hit. There was no question about it. If it was a pop up then there'd be some questions to whether it would leave the park. Farragut's fence is atleast taller than the 4ft at Catholic.

J.Fred Johnson stadium (home of DBHS), Cardinal Park (home of Science Hill HS), Hunter Wright Stadium (home of Gate City HS) and Elizabethton Twins Park (home of Elizabethton HS) are really super parks to play baseball in. The rest are nice but these mentioned are better. Playing surface as well as looking superb is a plus in my book.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
