Region 5-5a

Recommended Posts

If you haven't noticed, LILAL is the biggest hater of Metro sports teams on this board. He's never strayed from the opportunity to publically dog a Nashville public school program. I've heard that he may have been run out by a Metro school or something, so maybe that's why he's bitter!

On to things that are not a waste of oxygen...........................

I really like Antioch in this region this year. They have some holes to fill on the OL and at QB, but the Davis kid is special, I mean, probably D-I special if he keeps growing and works at it. McAdoo is the best player in Davidson County and he'll be a disruptor. I think that last year proved down the stretch that Woodward is the best coach in 5-5A and he has the best talent pool to work with. And I love his scheduling. He might get his butt kicked the first two weeks by Riverdale and MBA, but after that stretch, his bunch will be prepared to go head to head with anybody 5-5A has to offer.

Gallatin is kind of retooling, and plus Lassiter has really proven to not be able to get over the hump with his conservative approach to offense.

Hunters Lane will be dangerous as always, but they always seem to play up or down to the competition level.

Overton is like Gallatin-lite. They play great defense, but Anderson, while a great fundamentals football coach, plays it too close to the vest offensively and that has hurt him dearly in the past.

Hendersonville is the X factor.....I just never know what to expect from them.

I agree 100% with this post. HL has almost as much talent as Antioch but it won't help them this year imo.

LILAL can kick rocks with his opinions. Honestly, I honostly see Antioch getting past Riverdale and MBA. I have seen both in the offseason, and the Bears are looking good. This region will be interesting.

So who do you think will make it the farthest in the playoffs? If u recall last year wasn't it hunters lane well anyway this is a new year so what are your thoughts?

i think gallatin will suprise people this season. They are the champs till someone beats them. I saw a spring game at gallatin this year and well they might have lost alot from last years team. but these new kids are good and playing for the green wave these kids are not used to losing.. final thought gallatin will be region champs AGAIN!

I don't think it will be a surprise. Gallatin is good year in and out. Last year Gallatin ran the table in the Region which is extremely hard. Can Gallatin run the table again? With Antioch and Hunters Lane knocking on the door, it will be tough, which is normally the case.

Thats a solid post. I tend to agree with most everything that was said. My thoughts on Antioch are that they need to find a quality qb. Gallatin has won against them because of the qb spot. The past quarterbacks for the Bears have, no offense , not been very good. Therefore Gallatin could concentrate on stopping the run and let lack of skill dictate the amount of passing pressure and coverage. If they have a good or decent Qb then Antioch will become very dangerous.

Gallatin should be down....and the question is still out on just how far down. They looked better than anyone imagined they would in the spring. So the jury is still out.

Overton will be very good especially with Daniel White running the ball. I expect that they will be playing for the region title.

Hunters Lane has a lot of talent. If they can find some discipline then they could be tough.

Hendersonville is a mess internally.

The rest are just not quite up to par with the others in my opinion.

I am just glad that this year region 6 can't claim a sweep in the playoffs. So maybe we can get some respect this year come playoff time.

Not a rumor. Seems they must focus on their baseball careers. Hey boys, ever heard of Sonny Gray???

this is entirely rumor.. both players gave the decision some thought but never went through with it.. hollins is back an working harder than ever.. expect good things from the kid.. should be one of the better safties around as well as splitting reps at tailback with the very talented sanchez holder

That is great news but I have 2 sources that say different but I hope you are right. Both could be standouts this year. Hollins looked very impressive on offense in the limited time this spring.

I really hope that is a rumor about Hollins and Blumenthal.

As far as Gallatin goes, I agree with Gwave. These guys look alot better than could have been expected. Though young, many of the players have had some game time in runaway games last season. The size up front is what really surprised me. I haven't seen a team this big in a good while in Gallatin.

Does anyone know of any Fall Scrimmages scheduled yet for the Wave?

they travel to chattanooga (Mcallie)* for their annual camp august 1st through the 8th. They scrimmage mcallie and also sevier county during that week. Gallatin's jamboree is scheduled for august 23rd.
