Still 3-1 going to the fifth.

 

Coffee fails to score, getting one runner on via a walk, so we go to the bottom of the fifth.

 

(Stephen Shults, Lawrence Co grad, rode to the game with the team today. Stephen was drafted this week by the Atlanta Braves as a third baseman and is headed for their rookie league.)

 

Curt Watson is on third for LCHS, two out. Holden Killen at bat. Wild pitch scores Watson. 4-1 LCHS. Killen homers on a 3-1 pitch to left, hitting the light pole at the 330 mark. LCHS up 5-1. Hartsfield walks. Zach Miller replaces Sain for Coffee. Hartsfield thrown out stealing. 3 outs.

 

Beasley has given up one hit and 1 run, the homer by Aaron. Coffee gets their second hit on an infield single and their third hit on a double to right by George. Runners on second and third. Error on a ground ball to short allows two runs to score for Coffee, 5-3 LCHS with a runner on first and Aaron at the plate. Walks. Runners on first and second, no outs. Batter HBP. Bases loaded. Holmes KOs. 1 out. Error on LCHS allows run to score. 5-4. 1 out. Coffee two-run double by Hobbs and lead 6-5. Coffee leads 7-5 on a single, still one out. Coffee has batted around in the sixth. Single to left scores two more and Coffee leads 9-5. Bloop single to right. Runners at first and third now. 1 out. Single. 10-5 lead. Still one out. Wild pitch. 11-5 lead for Coffee. Two outs on a ground out to short. Third out on a deep fly to center. 11-5 coffee leads.

 

Looks like we will be playing a second game later tonight for the district championship.

 

Three up and down for LCHS. Top of seventh. Coffee scores two to make it 13-5 going to the bottom of the 7th.

 

Coffee wins Game One 13-5. Game Two coming up for the 8-AAA championship.

Game Two Updates:

 

LCHS scores one in the bottom first on a sac fly by Holden Killen which plated Orry Blackwood. 1-0 LCHS after one.

 

Brady Hutton pitching for LCHS. Coffee does not score as a double play ends the inning.

 

Bases loaded for Lawrence County in the bottom of the second. One out. Sanders batting. Double play, three away.

 

(Oakland and Cookeville win today in 7-AAA)

 

1-0 going to the fourth. Coffee got two men on but do not score. LCHS coming up in the fourth.

 

LCHS scores one as Rogers scores on a single by Curt Watson. 2-0 LCHS. Going to the fifth. Sacrifice bunt moves runners to 2nd and 3rd. Ben Aaron up.

 

Coffee has first and third with no one out. Single to center by George. 2-1 with runners on 1st and 2nd. 3-2 Coffee on a sac fly and a throwing error by Lawrence County. Three outs as we go to the bottom of the fifth.

 

LCHS goes down in the fifth. No runs. Going to the sixth.

 

Still 3-2 Coffee in the bottom of the sixth. LCHS does not score in the sixth. One inning to go.

 

Coffee gets an insurance run making it 4-2.

 

Bottom of the 7th, last chance for LCHS. 1 out on a fly to right. KO for out #2. Blackwood gets an infield single. Runner on first with two out and Brady Hutton batting. Pop up ends the game.
