TCA will be losing two seniors off this year's team: All-State catcher Katie Henderson, who is going to play at ETSU, and CF Olivia Wilson. They have been great leaders and smart ball players. TCA will have 7 starters back including their entire pitching staff, and they will be getting some young players up from the 8th grade(including Anna Renfroe, Ivy and Ellen's youngest sister). If they can fill the holes, then I expect them to be competitive again next year as well.

I heard they had another soon-to-be-8th-grader who was a lights out pitcher, too. Is that true?

Unicoi County is losing six seniors, their catcher, Lauren Hopson, Pitcher, Leah Love, First baseman, Lynsey Canaday, Third baseman, Chelsea Stevenson, Right fielder, Katherine Harris and Center Fielder, Alicia Engle. They are all very talented players and all contrubited to strong season. They only have three starters coming but i don't think they will drop any next year. They have strong Freshman group coming up and quite a few players that didn't start this year that can fill the shoes of the seniors easily with a little practice of course.

That would be the Anna, the youngest Renfroe sister. She plays for the Nighthawks 12u (Ivy and Ellen play for the 16u)travel team out of Nashville. Great pitcher all around good ball player, and just a great kid. The Renfroe parents have a lot to be proud of.

Camden loses 5 seniors... ace pitcher Leah Hensley, Melinda Patterson catcher and lead off hitter, Jessica Shannon first basemen, Brooklyn Pettyjohn second basemen, and outfielder Coi Mc Donald. Three of the 5 have already signed to play college ball and Melinda will be signing soon when she makes her final choice. It will be hard to replace this group, but Camden has a young talented pitching corp waiting in the wings, alot of talent sitting on the bench and more coming up so they will be tough for several more years.

Cherokee loses 1 senior (1 of 2 pitchers used the last two years). While she will be greatly missed they will return 4 juniors, 3 sophomores, and 1 freshman from this year's starting lineup. Add to that a returning freshman with a great stick and 2008 should be very solid. All 8 returnees have been starters their entire high school career. The 2007 version set school records for consecutive regular season wins to start the season as well as total wins in a season, they won the district II tournament and suffered a real letdown in the opening round of regions.

There is an additional loss, however....the head coaching job is vacated by Almeda Dickenson for the first time in the 27ish year history of Cherokee High School. Someone will be stepping into a situation filled with "high expectations".

Meigs County High School has no seniors on the team and finished with a much improved 24-13 record this season. Most games started 5 freshmen and 3 sophomores. Will have only 2 seniors next year and 3 talented freshmen will be coming from the middle school. Much brighter future in Decatur for the next few years.
