Let me be the first to mention the Cougars of Goodpasture. Now, I know what you are going to say. "They are losing Darnell, Moffitt, Stroud, Hanson, Graves, Reece Lovell, and others." That's true, but we are talking about a team that has been to the state tournament 5 years in a row, a team that knows how to win. The middle of the defense (c, ss, 2b, cf) is coming back in-tact; two very good leftys return (both of whom won games in this years state tournament); and as long as Estep is the coach, they have a shot.

Go ahead and laugh now folks but I am telling you all right now that Gary Patterson had the Cheatham Co. Cubs playing well late this past season and next year's team is shaping up to be pretty darn good. Garrett Potts, Cody & Tyler Anderson, Kenneth & Harold Huckaby, Clay Cannon, & Brandon Theriault all return next year and hopefully they'll also see the return of Mark Campbell to the diamond next spring. I fully expect the Cubs to be among the best in 11AA next season and challenge to make a trip to the Boro.

BC, dont ever say that again man. There is no way they could challenge to make a trip to the boro'. But I do look for them to be on the upper half of 11AA but thats all. It will be the same next year CW, MC, Harpeth (even tho they lose 11 seniors).

Have faith in those guys over in Ashland City. They are going to turn it around next year because they now have stability in the dugout with a proven winner who will demand excellence from the players. He's also a guy who both the players and their parents RESPECT!!!!

    • It’s a small town and they are in the same school system. People talk and can pull up records on their personal devices.
    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
