  1. Our team is new to Division II A West, so what's what? Who are the top teams?
  2. USJ won 24 to 21. It was a GREAT game! Both teams played hard.
  3. That doesn't get TSSAA, that gets the host school.....And they should get something, their parents are typically manning it.
  4. I'm not sure if you meant it this way or not, but it sounds like your opinion has a lot to do with your travel ball team and not having the athletes you would like to because they are playing with their schools teams or working out with school teams in different sports. I wish I could take a 45 day vacation.......My son returned from the boro and after 2 days he was driving me nuts with "I'm bored", "What are we going to do now?"...he spent time in the batting cages, we even went to the gym, nothing gave him the energy hit he gets from practice and playing, that's what he wants, enjoys, thrives on.......things got so much more relaxed and more peaceful in our house once summer practice resumed. Now my son has chosen this week to not play football anymore. This was not a decision made from pressure of any kind from anyone. This was his decision because he would like to devote all of his time to baseball. He would like to reach his greatest potential and feels he must make total dedication to reach this. These are totally his ideas.
  5. Will someone please give an update on the Goodpasture / Marion game?
  6. Just out of curiosity how many CBHS games have you been to this year? And the other Memphis teams too?
  7. Know before you post....USJ doesn't pay people to come to their school....that would be DII school. USJ players pay to attend and play for the school, big difference. They are not all a bunch of spoiled rich boys who have everything handed to them obviously you are not well informed, just repeating gossip. As for size, Dresden had USJ out weighed in all classes of size no matter what position. I don't even think USJ has a kid over 200 lbs period. I know the majority of the line is around 165 lbs. And did you know a lot of their starters are sophmores too. So things are tuff right now, keep your head up but don't whine.
  8. Humboldt won but they had to go to over time to do it! What a game!!! Even the Humboldt coaches commented they escaped, just barely. Bill Hardegree has really improved since last year and this year he has the support to make things happen. This team is itching to prove they can definitely compete in 2A. Every other team had better watch out cause here come the Bruins!
  9. They want these kids to play football.
  10. I think the rule says of those who will be playing on the team, not in the school.
  11. No way! Clayton Gant will be the best in AA in 08!!
  12. Randy Harrell would be a great choice for any team!
  13. Don't count on the divorce thing for a waiver...I know parents who divorced and could no longer afford the private school and had to move to a public, requested a waiver and were denied without hesitation.
  14. There are definitely academic and learning environment advantedges, but I do not see how that translates to an athletic advantedge.
  15. They don't get it....and those that do don't believe it.
  16. So it is your opinion that JCS or any other private school chose its pre kindergarteners based on their athletic ability? I'm pretty sure most of the high school students have been there since then....yeah sure they have a few transfers in but the majority have been there 10 or more years. I believe the "advantedge" that concerns everyone is the dedication these students have on their own to their chosen sport. They are willing to sacrifice in order to achieve, this is on their own no one makes them.
  17. BaldCoach said a mouthful with "great student dedication"....of those of you complaining just how dedicated are your athletes? Just practicing when the coach has practice is not nearly enough. It is summer now, what is your child doing? Whether or not they have weights at home or at their school, there are other things they can do to improve. My oldest does not miss a day, rain or shine, of throwing a tennis ball close range as hard as he can against our chimney to practice fielding...is it the best case scenario, no, will it help him to get better, you try it....this is just one of the things he does, but he doesn't do anything that any other serious player couldn't do. He chooses this as opposed to video games, computer, or TV, he's not made to do this. His dedication as well as the dedication of the other players on his team will make a difference in the teams season and success. That has nothing to do with what school he goes to, it has everything to do with the role baseball plays in his life and the lives of his teammates...they live and breathe baseball.
  18. Out of curiosity what sport did your child lose in?.....Here's some news for you that I am sure you will be happy over JCS is moving up to AA.
  19. You continuously complain about the past...they added the multiplier, give it a chance...by the way not all private school parents are rich....oh and one more thing most of the boys on my sons private school baseball team have been playing together since they were in first grade together.......I wonder if that could have anything to do with why they are so good?
  20. So far you've made the best statement on here.....by the way last year McKenzie won the 2006 A championship and Covington won the AA championship, they are both public. Just thought you would like to know.....
  21. but that was last year.....this is this year and a public didn't win so everything must be wrong.....I usually hear such logic from children.
  22. Who has the best team returning for next year? Just wanted to remind everyone what thread you were under.......
  23. Goodpasture did not have a walk in the park...a walk in the park is a game called on runs in the 5th...not 11 inning games like they had, twice. And a walk in the park is not a 9 inning championship game win...who knows whether it will be a private school finals, but it will not be a walk in the park for anyone.
  24. USJ. They are only losing two seniors who play on a regular basis. Gant, pitcher Buckley, catcher Wills, 1st base Fesmire, 2nd base Grimm. short stop Overbey, 3rd base Smith, right field Bright, DH Bryan, DH All of these guys are returning...several of them also pitch. See ya next year....out of this list 5 are freshmen.
