LadyTrojanDad
QUOTE(fish4 @ Jun 6 2007 - 01:55 PM) 826472199[/snapback]THAT WAS LAST YEARS Do they have this years named yet? I thought the All State team was based on state play only. If thats so, how did riverdale have people on an all state team if they didn't make it to state? If I'm wrong can you please explain how an all state team is chosen, Thanks
Indian
It's not just on state play. That usually helps though, when the writers have heard of players outside their own areas they're more likely to vote for them.
LadyTrojanDad
So its not really based on how Good you are, but how well your name is known? Thats not exactly fair for the players is it?
worthyone
All good players don't get to state. Just because a team does make it, doesn't mean they have all-state caliber players. Remember, some regions are fairly weak. For some schools, if they can get out of their district, they have a smooth ride to state. If Riverdale didn't make it to state this year and Cat still set the NATIONAL H.S. record for strikeouts in a season, would that make her any less of a player? NO. Indian
I'm not saying that's the right way, but I'd say that's a lot of it. I'm sure it's hard to balance team success and individual success but both should go into it.
LadyTrojanDad
I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer to this or not, but does anyone know why Soddy Daisy only had 2 best of preps and GPS had 4? SD won thier region and district as well as GPS?? Who decides how many players each team gets?? Soddy Daisy only got 2, 3 if your count player of the year. worthyone
If Soddy went to DII then there would be a lot more than two from their team. Different level of comp from DII and AAA -- not saying the best are comparable... but many, many, many more better teams in AAA thand DII -- if for no other reason than the amount of teams. I thought I saw Blevins, Stiles and the pitcher on the first team, at least. Maybe more.
