Bekah Smith of USJ learned she was chosen to play on USA volleyballs High Performance team. She is one of 40 girls chosen across the nation to represent USA in an international tournament to be held July 22-25 in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. The 40 girls will be divided into 4 teams each representing the U.S.A and competing with teams outside of the country. I would like to congratulate Bekah as this is quite an honor to be chosen!

Congratulations and good luck to you Bekah!

Madelyn Hutson (Ravenwood HS, Brentwood) was also chosen to the Select A-1 High Performance program for the same dates and location. Select A-1 is for girls who were born in or after 1992 -- predominately rising freshmen (class of 2010-2011).

This is a tremendous accomplishment for both these young women -- selected over 100s who try out nationally.

She is a TREMENDOUS talent and comes from a wonderful family. Remember the name... she's going to make huge waves and put Ravenwood prominently on the map in the next 4 years.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
