Murphy Fair's 1A Preseason Top 5

It says on his site that these are listed alphabetically right now and that he will rank them each week. So he's not saying Bruceton is his number one pick in 1A, just that they are in his top 5.

With the 2 running backs that I hear about from Bruceton they may not be a bad pick. A fullback 6'5" and 270 and a running back that gained more than 2000 yards AND they are both back. Whew!! If they didn't loose much on the line they should be tuff.

I've kept up with his picks for several yeard , his picks are pretty good.Isee nothing wrong with his top 5 , but there are definately some more teams you could put in there.

Here's Murphy's top 5. This is different from earlier posts regarding the coaches’ top 10. I think it's pretty interesting that he's got a public school (from West TN) as the No. 1 team in the state. There has only been 2 public 1A teams win the championship since the 5 classification system began in '93 (Trousdale Co. and S. Pitt.). Oh and the last time a public school from West TN won the 1A championship was '89. And that was none other than Bruceton.

so when will his REAL picks be out? are these his top 5, just in NO order? and he will rank them as the year progresses?

 

He also said FC would beat Gordonsville last year pretty easily, he was quite wrong. I wouldn't pertain to him as a guru, but he is knowledgeable.

They should be pretty good. They will have at least 9 seniors who started last year, and 3 others who have played some in rotation. They also have two very experienced juniors, one of whom is 6'6" 280.

Their were only 5 or 6 seniors on last years team. Most of the kids were juniors.

 

They look good and this should be their year. Time will tell as they have McKenzie and Huntingdon early in the schedule.
