Here are the results:

Note: Format was 2 full quarters for each matchup (one-half of a regular game).

Munford 6 - Haywood 14

This game was dominated by Haywood on both sides of the ball. Munford fumbled, made numerous mistakes, and was outcoached by the Haywood coach, IMO. Haywood moved the ball well, particularly on the ground, and throttled Munford's offense. Munford did score a late TD to rescue something from the game, but they were helped by numerous penalties that the Haywood subs committed on that late drive. Otherwise, they never threatened to score the entire game.

Brighton- Ripley

Brighton looked sharp on offense, particularly. They scored early and often. They also used every type of trick kickoff known to man, gaining extra possessions on one regular on-side kick and on a pooch-style kick the receiver tried to fair catch and dropped. They also tried a couple more pooch kicks. For most of the game, the Ripley offense consisted of scrambles by their QB, Meux, out of the shotgun. He was contained by Brighton until late in the game when he broke a couple of runs, then they did let a couple of other folks touch the ball, eventually scoring a consolation TD.

Covington - Fayette Academy

Covington's better athletes dominated this one, and FA had no answer for long runs by QB Hall and others. The Chargers threw a long pass for one TD, and ran for two others. Covington's D held FA scoreless, only giving up an occasional first down, until FA's last drive, when they scored on the Charger reserves.

Haywood looked good out there tonight. had a couple of chances to really run away with it. Two touchdowns were called back due to penalties. I was thinking Munford would look better (with the transfers and all) Brighton also looked very good, scoring at will. 1A Fayette never had much of a chance in thier game. Covington could have found better competition i would think.
