Couldn`t make it to the jamboree. Can anyone fill me in?

Thanks VG

I think USJ and Liberty played to a 0-0 tie

I think TCA won over Peabody 7-0

I think Milan and JCM tied 7-7

South Side over Humboldt 7-6

JCS over Northside 14-6

Did not see first 3 games but that was what I remember hearing...Last 2 games I did see...SOuthside and Humboldt both looked good in game before ours...

I'll give ya my two cents.

Didn't think either USJ or Liberty looked that good. Don't know if each team was good defensively or bad offensively...I'm leaning toward the latter. Just not a good night for either team, IMO.

TCA and Peabody was a good one. Peabody fumbled on its first possession just like last year. Harper is the real deal, man...he looked great. TCA was solid...got hosed on a fumble call that would have given them six more (Tomlin scooped it and ran for the TD but the official had blown his whistle before the play was over, so they just gave the ball to TCA at the spot). TCA, I thought, owned the line of scrimmage. I know Peabody was without DE Rossie Jones and head coach Kent Scott, for what it's worth.

Milan-JCM was a slugfest...lots of hard hits. Bad news for Milan, as Brent Hanson went down on the 3rd play of the game with a knee injury. I've been told that it is not good, which is a big blow. But man, is Milan fast -- by far the fastest backs out there tonight. Hawkins looked good at times, not so good at others. I liked what I saw from the Cougars though.

Humboldt-South Side was alright. You can really tell a difference in Humboldt's backfield at the moment...not nearly as impactful. Their TD came on a tipped pass that went right to Epperson (who to his credit was in the right place), but the pass from Shivers was well underthrown. South Side looked pretty good to me. Ken James is a man, and Masoud looked comfortable at QB.

JCS-North Side started out rough for JCS...fumbled on its first play, leading to a NS score, then penalties put them at 1st and 30 from their own 10. Three plays later, they scored on a BEAUTIFUL pass from Matt Hudson to Tanner Perkins on 3rd-and-12. Play of the night as far as I was concerned. From that point forward, it was pretty much JCS. NS might have gotten one first down after their first drive...kept running to the weakside where Josh Aldridge and Ben Cooper were...didn't work too well. Hudson doesn't have the wheels Fowler did, but I was very impressed with his arm and ability to read the defense. Didn't make one bad decision throwing the football.

Here's what I saw.

USJ and Liberty. Neither team looked good, but USJ had more success moving the ball than Liberty did. I don't think Liberty got a first down until there were about five minutes left in the second period. Liberty has installed the spread, but very few pass plays were called. In the first period, seemed like more of their runs lost yards than gained yards. But, since Liberty just installed a new coach and a new system, it's not unrealistic to think they may get things worked out during the season.

TCA and Trenton. Both teams looked good. Harper has got moves at QB. Wow. Amazing juke moves when he's running with the ball. Trenton scored their TD on a nice pass from Harper to the corner of the end zone from around the 20 on 4th down. Missed XP kept this from being tied. And there was a lot of confusion on the fumble that TCA scooped up and appeared to take in the end zone. Looked like it should've been a TD from where I was sitting, but I was on the home side and the fumble happened on the visiting sideline, so I didn't have a great view. TCA scored their TD on a nice run up the middle by Crenshaw, I think.

Milan and JCM. The fastest, hardest-hitting contest of the night. Milan was the fastest team on the field. Will be interesting to see how long Hanson is out. On the play that he was injured, JCM put the hit of the night on a Milan player in front of the home stands. Was watching that hit, so I didn't see how Hanson got hurt in the middle of the field. Based on watching Milan, they will be the class of that Region.

Southside and Humboldt. Southside looked good, especially given the players they lost from last year. Humboldt was driving and SS picked off a pass around the 10, then drove down the field for a TD by running the ball well. Humboldt scored their TD on a tipped ball by SS to the Humboldt WR. I thought both teams looked good.

JCS and Northside. JCS was wobbly early, fumbling on their first play, giving up a TD to NS, then getting called for holding on the first play of their next possession. But after that, wow. For those who think that JCS is headed to a 2-8, 3-7, 4-6 type season in 2A this year, forget about it (barring injuries to key players). They are very good, and will contend for a playoff spot in that region. Matt Hudson is the best pocket passer I've seen in recent years. As the bored guy said, the Hudson to Perkins pass for the first score was the offensive play of the night. It was a D-I type pass, nice tight spiral put where his WR, and only his WR could catch the ball. The kind of pass you don't see that often in HS football. The kid has got a big time arm, and seems to have big-time head for reading the defense as well.

Iv just started attending milan and iv been hearin about a linebacker from JCM who is suppoce to be pretty big and pretty good, was milan able to block him tonight

Gavin Hardin didn`t play in the jamboree. Paper said he had a slight hyperextension of his knee so they held him out. Best of luck in your English class at Milan.
