I just heard that the Whitwell vs. Dayton City game has been cancelled. Something about Whitwell's field being unplayable or something. Has anyone heard whats wrong with the field? Hey Zonepirate tell Stoney to call me so we can try to schedule some B-Ball.

 

 

It rained all day here some I guess the field was soaked and the varsity coach didn't want them tearing it up. I'll tell him.

 

At Grundy there had been no rain. We scored on our first offensive play after stopping them and in the next series on our 2nd play. We scored a couple more times to make it 28-0 at the half. We really struggled with extra points. We scored again at the first of the second half to make it 36-0 and the mercy rule went into effect. They got their 1st first down at the end of the 3rd quarter. We subbed and tried some new formations but looked pretty rough offensely the rest of the game. We also had several passes dropped in the first half that were TD's. Final score was 36-0. The powers at be better take control of the team from the little league guys and give it back to the head coach or the only one getting SPANKED this year will be them

 

I heard Spring City beat B'port something like 20-8. The score might not be correct but it is close

Bledsoe won tonight 26-0.... Scored all 26 in the 1st quarter.... The game could've been much much worse... Coach Quay called off the dogs...

 

 

We did score all 26 points in the first quarter. We subbed in the second quarter and let second and third teamers play in the second half. This game is about winning, but it is also about the kids. Coach Webb is a very close friend and I wish him the best of luck the rest of this season. Jasper is a very young team and will be much better the next couple of years.

 

I also heard that Spring City beat Bridgeport 20 - 6. Coach Cook said that Bridgeport had around 20 kids and that they were all big and physical. He said that the score was 6 to 6 at the half. He feels that they were in better condition allowing to pull it out in the second half.

      Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!

      In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
