Yep, it would be nice to be able to pull talent from all over, like some...and remain in Div. 1 /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> , but we're just lucky I guess. Greenbrier is only one of 5 ( /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> ) high schools in our little ole county.

Don't most Catholic (i.e., private) schools play DII? Wonder why y'all don't?

Well, guess I'd better get on over to Father Ryan. Hope we don't take too much of a butt-kickin'. Good luck. Hope to see ya...real soon.

Go Lady Cats!

*One game at a time.

I aint sure why we are in Div. 1, my daughter has always been in the catholic system educationally, we just do what they ask us, pretty much. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

I reckon there is about 14 or 15 high schools in Knox County, but man, this is one big county, so i guess thats needed. But you never know when another private will pop up around here. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

  • 2 weeks later...

To the Lady Cats VB Team:

My daughter is a member of the Trousdale Co. VB team and I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the talent and execution shown by the Greenbrier team. It was a real treat to watch this team play. Of course, I was pulling for TC, but will acknowledge excellency when I see it. Good job girls and best of luck in the upcoming tournaments. Luckily our district tourney is at Hartsville, so I have another chance to see this team play. See ya next week!!!!

What a nice compliment. Thank you!

We do have a wonderful group of girls who work very hard at getting better every day. Talent-wise we are just lucky to have what we've got, being in a very small community. Our coaches have built this program over the last few years and they expect to win every match. It's fun being a part of such a successful program, but comments like this mean more than winning to some of us.

Thanks again and good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS! to the Lady Cats for winning the district tonight. They took Macon County in three(3) /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> games. All the girls were on their game tonight. I was sad not to be playing Portland in the championship match. I think they are a well coached great group of girls also. GO LADY CATS!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Gosh! Where to start...

Last night was an emotional match. 40th win (most in school history). Back-to-back State trips. 5 seniors that played their last game at home (Sara Fowler, Katie Clinard, Emily Hayes, Allison McAlister, Lindsay Cancel). A GREAT group of senior parents (well, at least one of y'all is AARP-certified senior /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> )!...boy, am I gonna miss them!! A bench that just comes in and you don't even notice the change. Junior D1s...X2! Sophomore studs! Freshmen just waiting on their time to contribute. It don't get no better! We are so blessed!

And what a crowd! The biggest of the year...with the regular student-fans...and the football guys 'brought it!' (heck, we couldn't even hear what they were sayin', but it was just good to have 'em there cheering on their schoolmates!!). The Lady Cats Mommas performed, but you couldn't hear them either. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> And the 'sock-in-it' lady was there with some contraption (a pole w/ socks hung off on it?) she said she'd like to give to a certain coach...east of here??? LOL!!

Now, let's load up 'the show,' roll on down to the 'boro and take care of that laaast bit of bidness.

GO Lady Cats! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

Please note: Greenbrier will be closed next Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Our 'finest' will still be patrollin', though, so don't try to get in while we're gone.

    • Hmmmmmm doe dee doe doe……sounds like they are leaving Geenback faster than the lawnmower will go in fifth gear.  Hmmmm….. you can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • West looked solid...excited to see this young group excel
    • When you have a school that right at 200 kids only half are going to be male and to get 25% of them to come out for football is a very hard task. Take away an 8th grade syatem and your you have another hill to climb up. If 5 kids are actually leaving your not going to have enough for practice. Your only chances for wins would be against the weakest of weak teams. At one time Greenback had kids coming across the wall like the Mexican Border and now their leaving town before sundown. A hugh mistake was made on not hiring Ryan back because of his ties to the community and his ability to bring in the right kids, not run them off. The last coach failed because he wasn't one of community so they go out and do it again. I'm sure Coach Clemmer is a good person because I do know people that do like him but he is caught in the middle of a fan base that will not support him no matter what and it could lead to a disaster if that many kids are leaving the program. The person that caused all of this mess has no business on the school board and needs to stick with hiding in the bushes giving out speeding tickets to out of towners coming through.
    • My outsider looking in perspective is Oliver Springs, Coalfield, Rockwood, and Harriman: fill out the top 4 good teams that beat up on the bottom and will all be in a good place to win in the 1st round with one team maybe making it farther. Midway: funnily enough in the middle an alright team that can beat the teams below them but not the top 4 misses the playoffs but still has a decent record. Oakdale, Greenback, Sunbright: round out the bottom each team has its problems and with a rough region and challenging non-conference records may not be pretty. Oakdale graduated lots of talent and experience, Greenback is in all sorts of internal turmoil with their new coach, and Sunbright small roster tough region not tons of Fb played. (Teams could be rearranged with other teams in their groups but this is how I see them finishing)
    • Kids quitting to focus on one sport could be a worry but multi-sport athletes transferring out would damage more than just football so I think the people who made this decision could find out they are going to get burned in multiple ways.
