im kinda baffled at smyrna even being in this poll being ranked 5th in the state (with a first place vote is especially rediculous) when they are currently 5th in their region. i mean im all for our region getting more exposure to the state but it ATLEAST makes a tiny bit of sense to put wilson central (6-0) and lavergne (5-1) in the poll and then think about squeazing smyrna in there.

who knows smyrna could be the best in the poll but atleast give other teams the respect with benefit of the doubt, they have earned that so far and smyrna hasnt.

really the team at #1 is all i care about /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Yeah. I was confused last week when they, Smyrna, had a first place vote

Here are the teams strength and schedule rankings..

1. Riverdale (19), Strength Rank: 2nd, Schedule Rank: 35th

2. Oak Ridge (2), Strength Rank: 4th, Schedule Rank: 43rd

3. White Station, Strength Rank: 8th, Schedule Rank: 56th

4. Millington, Strength Rank: 3rd, Schedule Rank: 39th

5. Smyrna (1), Strength Rank: 17th, Schedule Rank: 29th

(tie) Farragut, Strength Rank: 7th, Schedule Rank: 23rd

7. Bearden, Strength Rank: 9th, Schedule Rank: 28th

8. Whitehaven, Strength Rank: 5th, Schedule Rank: 17th

9. William Blount, Strength Rank: 11st, Schedule Rank: 9th

10. Houston, Strength Rank: 6th, Schedule Rank: 55th

based on seeing those. I don't see how Smyrna is getting first place votes... Heck. William Blount might as well be getting them. They have 2 losses and they have the toughest schedule out of the top 10...

truth...and keep in mind when you lose games it improves the opponents record which in turn makes the losing teams schedule ranking go up. im not really making that point to william blount tho as much as i am to smyrna cause they always try to bring that up in debates with riverdale folk about how their schedule is "so much tougher" and things of that nature

    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
    • Looks like Trent Noah was released from his NLI at South Carolina with intent to pursue playing closer to home. Kentucky and Louisville both reported to be in the mix for him now.
