The score was 21-20 in OT. Grundy played their hearts out and definitely played well. The only upset was after the game when two Notre Dame fans ran out onto the field and danced on the helmet in the middle of the field, the helmet that held Chris Pickett's number. It was disrespectful and made many Grundy fans mad and disappointed. Why would someone do this?

I doubt they knew the significance but that's just another reason to keep fans and students off the field after high school games. Some fans/students are there to be seen rather than to support their teams.

Exactly my take. I believe those students meant to be bad sportsmen with a "Na na we beat you" attitude. I do not want to believe they had clue they were disrespecting Coach Pickett. Coach Wiggins, his staff and several of the fans were just sick over what happened after the game. Trust me, Coach Wiggins is on top of this and those students will be providing answers for their behavior first thing Monday morning.

But those few students should not reflect at all on Notre Dame's team, school or fans as a whole. A mom came to me after the game and said she was sorry for what they had done. One of the Irish players was almost in tears saying he was sorry for what they did.

Indian is right. Fans should not be running onto the field or court after the game. Far too often something like this can happen. I was at a basketball game last season when something like that happened. Almost every school is guilty and every school should put a stop to it.

Meet your team in the endzone, at the end of the court, outside the dugout or at the edge of any other field when you win on someone else's turf. If you stay off theirs, they might stay off yours.

Again I want to say the Notre Dame team, coaches and fans as a whole were all class. They knew what we were going through and they were very kind and concerned about us. Those few who did something stupid will have to live with what they did.

DL.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
