Matman Rankings/Bray Rankings

Matman's are up on the Tennessee Wrestling Federation site. Bray's are up on tennesseewrestling.com. And the comments on this board about both have started to flow in. Do these two wrestling aficiando's think alike? For comparison purposes, here they are, side by side (unless they have been edited today while this comparison was being compiled) with Matman's pick listed first and Bray's second.

Remember, its early, nobody can say for certain who will be at what weight and these guys do this for free, on their own time, because they love the sport. It takes time and effort and they are willing to do it. So, disagree if you want, but in doing so don't shoot the messengers, Matman and Bray, for providing you with something to argue about. Anyone violating this rule will be forced to spend the evening before state duals in Clarksville with BCB and the ND crowd.

Come on, No way that thay can be that close to one another. (Uhmm 189)Not pointing finger< but, One of the two is cheating a little off the other one. Does anyone else think that!! Ofcourse yall do. But theres not a problem, its good to see what people think on rankings. In a way it builds up some Loud compitetion this season.

Now Rahfiki if were trying to say that Coach Bray copies Matmans rankings you might want to reconsider. Coach Bray puts a ton of time into those. I happen to know him personally and have seen the countless hours he puts into them, even before they were put on a website other than coacht

Rahfiki, I have to agree with TNWrestling. Neither of the two is "cheating a little off the other one" and to further say that "yall" ( implying all of us posting on this board) think that way is way off base. All you have to do is look at the weights below 171 to see the error of your ways. But why would being "that close to one another matter" anyway? That just shows how good the returning wrestlers are at 189. My guess is that if you had three other "pollsters", they would all have the same guys as their top five in that weight class. When the AP top five are the same as the Coaches top five in the BCS football standings, nobody says that one is cheating off the other. That just means they both agree on the top five. For punishment for your comment, as promised you get to spend the night with BCB and the Irish fans the night before state duals. Bring a survival kit.

I think that what the two rankings show right now is that 171-215-189 classes in D-I look like they will be dominated 5-6 really tough wrestlers, while the weight classes below look to be wide open, with Matman and Bray all over the place as to whose going to go where and do what as the season opens. They have tossed out a lot of names for everyone to keep an eye on. It will be interesting to put these rankings up against the final rankings when the season ends to see how good they were at prognosticating.

Guys,

No one is cheating off the other. But this is a funny thread to start. Bray and myself work really hard to get these out and to get them as close to correct as we can. If we just happen to agree, that is just the way it is. BuckLateral thanks alot!

By the way. Bray has Arrington #3 at 171 and i do not because i recieved word that he will be moving up to 189 this year. The only reason i think this is different would be that Bray did not recieve the same info. Is that enough evidence to support that neither of us are copying? Another thing is, i have actually spoken with Heacock and he told me PERSONALLY that he is going 171.

Rcpatriot, I really hope that Shields decides to come out this year! That kid is a HUGE talent and i was hoping he'd continue his career not only as a Rebel, but as a future Chattanooga Moc!

I am just glad that they aren't trying to compare DII rankings seeing as how we have even less info on them.... I think we have received the line-up for 1 team so far.

Well i think its good that there rankings are real close to each other. Now if Matman made a ranking then Bray had something say off then i would think that one of them dont know what they are talking about. These men bust there butts on trying to get these rankings up. thank them instead of rag on them

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
