Greeneville vs Cocke County IMAC

In that game, Cocke County shot 47 free throws. Sullivan Central shot 40.

CC was whistled for 31 fouls. SC had 33.

It was a pretty evenly, tightly called game. It had to be - or there would've been a fight or two.

Friday's game was decently called too. There were a couple of head scratching calls/no calls...but they evened out. Cocke County lost the game by: 1) being unable to rebound. Had a couple of key possessions that led to multiple Greeneville offensive rebounds. Two possessions resulted in a combined 6 offensive rebounds and 6 Greeneville points. 2) Playing Greeneville's tempo in the second half. Cocke County wants to run and gun and shoot it 60 times a game, and Greeneville got them out of it and Cocke County didnt break 40 field goal attempts.

These two teams should have another good game in Newport in January. Not much separation in the boys league this year, as its a very down year for the league.

Thanks PT for the update...I have been unable to attend any games so far this season...you guys are my lifeline for a while I'm afraid. Really, we are kinda used to IMAC officiating....either all or nothing.

You're a joke to say this was evenly called game!!! There's a lot of difference between touch fouls and getting hammered inside and nothing called. Everytime we made a run to get it to 3 or 4, the one certain ref (and I know you know whom I am talking about) made probably 80% of the calls pulled one out of the hat.

Unfortunately playing at Hal Henard has the reputation of bad officiating but I believe that pin pointing this problem on Duncan is off based.

Basically what I am saying is that I would love to hear a reason why it is like that up there, other than Duncan pays, harrasses, and tortures the officials.

For someone from Cocke County to get on here and cry home cooking is a JOKE. When Sullivan Central went to Cocke County that was the biggest joke of officials I have ever seen. But we didn't get on here and start and thread about it. They fouled 2 point guards out with touch fouls on the perimeter, while the 2 big guys underneath from Cocke County had a license to kill. If I am correct Cocke County shot nearly 50 free throws, (WHAT A JOKE), and we still only lost by 4. So I say JUST TAKE A LITTLE OF YOUR OWN MEDICINE. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Sorry to dissapoint you but I am from Greeneville and graduated from Greeneville High School. I haven't seen anyone from Cocke County on here complaining.

Hahahahahaha...this is good stuff. I was unaware that Kardzguy was from Cocke County. That being the case, I completely agree with the above statement. You can lose 10 to 15 points at Cocke County on officiating alone. Good thing Cocke County is horrible. Not only did Greeneville play their worst game of the season, but they are down this year. You on one hand, blame this on officiating. I blame it on the fact that your team is pathetic. I was under the impression that the ball was on fire every time your boys got it Kardz. And hoop"god", not only are those the trashiest posts I have ever seen in my life, they are completely incorrect. Bill is an excellent coach as Barb proved. Also, he doesn't recruit. The fact that guys come to play for him only proves the caliber of coach he is. So allow me to make a guess here. You are 16 years old and go to CC high school. Or are you just ignorant hoops? I bet you can guess. In fact, I doubt you were at the game.

Do you have a problem with reading comprehension ? I stated in the 2nd sentence that I was from Greeneville. I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to start making "ignorant" statements. Maybe you should read a post before you start posting replys to it.

no...this is what you said...be careful who you call ignorant.

"How long will teams allow the refs at Greeneville to steal games. It is embarrasing to be from Greeneville and watch the officiating in that gym. "

You do NOT say you are from Greeneville....only that its embarrassing to be from Greeneville.

And about this statement

"Greeneville starts off 0 for 11 from the field, but goes to the line 16 times in the 1st half to only trail by one at halftime. Lets not forget that unless it's a shooting foul, we're not going to the line until after 7 fouls. For the game Greenevile shot 20 more free throws and wins by 11. "

This says nothing about how many fouls were called and could mean Greeneville only went to the line 8 times I believe the stat was 12-16. Gee Kardz, could they have actually had shooting fouls or maybe hit the first half of their 1 and 1?

If I were to evaluate this Greeneville games on stats, Cocke County shot well from the field and poorly from the stripe 19-36...53%, 5-11... 46% and Greeneville quite the opposite 14-40...35 %, 27-31... 87%. To put up those numbers from the line you HAVE to hit the first half of your 1 and 1. If CC does that they SHOOT MORE FOUL SHOTS, which is the stat you quoted... # of shots, NOT # of fouls.(and maybe they don't lose by 11) If you expect to use stats to make a point, use the correct stats and not the ones you can manipulate to your skewed view.

Now there's an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you never been to Cocke County????????????????????????????

As far as Coach Duncan not being able to coach and need the refs help, Coach Duncan may have had his problems over the years but not knowing how to coach is not one of them. For anyone to say he can't coach.........well there's only one thing to say...........you don't know much about basketball. Don't agree with everything the man has done over the years and have had some good battles with his teams but the man knows basketball.

Sorry to dissapoint you Barb, but according to the box scores printing in the Greeneville Sun, Cocke County was 5 for 11. Let's assume they make all of their 1st shots, that would make them 5 of 10, if they missed all of their 2nd. If every shot was a one-and-one, and they missed all of their 1st shots except 5, they would have only gotten 6 more attempts. Again, my point, at best Greeneville still gets 14 more attempts from the line than CC. On your 1st statement, how could I be embarassed to be from Greeneville, if I'm not FROM Greeneville. Kinda obvious. My statement of ignorant was only in reply to someone using the term 1st, but obviously not completely reading the post. Evidently someone needs to see what Webster's has to say about "ignorant".

Barb unless I am mistaken you said in an earlier post that you have not attended a game this year. I dont understand how you can say that the refs were fair and that CC should have hit the front end of their 1&1's if you were not even there to see what actually took place in the game.

As for what_a_games quote I am not a 16 year old boy from CC. I am a grown man and have lived in Greeneville for 10 years. Some may say that my earlier comments were ignorant in regards to how I feel about Duncan. I agree that he has a proven record outside of Greeneville basketball, but you cant argue the fact that Duncan recruits his players. And if Duncan is as good of a coach as you and barb think he is why is he coaching in the IMAC instead of coaching college or even pro?

No, I believe you said "It is a total embarassment that Bill Duncan has to get officials to win the games for him because he is not a good enough coach to win on talent". That sir is a slam at the coach, not the officials. You obviously don't know anything about East Tennessee basketball is if that is your assessment of Duncan. Perhaps it would help if you looked into his background. The man was a college coach and Olympic coach before coming back to coach HS ball. You are way out of line with the above statement.

Barb, I need some help. You stated that Bill Duncan was an Olympic coach. Could you please give me some more information on this. I had thought that he was a coach on the Kuwaiti National Team. According to Kuwait's Official Olympic Site, Kuwait has never even played an "Olympic" basketball game. I was just curious and trying to get some clarification on this.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
