Hixson Girls @ the Columbia Tournament

Match #1:

 

The Hixson Lady Wildcats improved their overall record to 14-0 today with a 21.5-5.5 victory over Spring Hill. This tournament only allows 5 bowlers per team so the pinfall totals of 2,856-2,356 are lower.

 

The Hixson girls were led by Allie Chase 626 (207, 200, 219), Kayla Carnes 614 (171, 266, 177), Brittany Marcum 602 (171, 223, 208) and Whitney Pennyman 414 (246, 168). Whitney was subbed for in the 3rd game of the match?

 

I will post the highlights of the other 2 matches as they are completed.

Match #2:

 

The Lady Wildcats improve to 15-0 for the season with a win over Lawrence County, 20.5-6.5. Pinfall totals (remember only 5 bowlers) were 2,646-2,252.

 

Hixson was led by Kayla Carnes 657 (201, 206, 232) and Stephanie Bledsoe 564 (201, 206, 157).

 

The girls next match is with a very tough Columbia Central team.

Match #3:

 

The Lady Wildcats improve to 16-0 after defeating Columbia Central 23.5-3.5. Pinfall totals were 2,922-2,200.

 

The Hixson girls were led by Kayla Carnes 692 (288, 194, 210), Allie Chase 631 (217, 203, 211) and Stephanie Bledsoe 602 (210, 220, 172).

 

For the Columbia tournament, Kayla averaged 218, Allie averaged 205 and Stephanie 186. Really, really good bowling, ladies!

 

From what I understand, it was a great tournament. However, I thought the teams were reduced to 5 bowlers per match per team rather than the usual 6 to speed up play. This was not the case. There were 10 bowlers per pair of lanes rather than the usual 6. Probably need fewer teams or more lanes.

 

All in all, a great performance by the Lady 'Cats!

We were trying to get all six teams on the lanes at the same time and thus the new format. I think we'll opt for just four teams next season and start at 10 am Columbia time. Sorry for the misunderstanding and I think everyone still had a great time. See all of you at state!!
