Any word Yet? Where does Coach Austin (from cascade) stand with Moore Co search?

Good luck on finding out, Sidetrain. They've been pretty tight-lipped over in Lynchburg on this hire. I can't believe Austin wouldn't be one of the front runners. He interviewed for the job last year when it was open. He is an alumni and a proven winner with Cascade. They certainly wouldn't have to worry about him jumping ship on them after one season. Austin getting this job would be similiar to Coach Parker getting the Cascade job. Both men would be in their dream jobs with no reason to leave.

Good luck on finding out, Sidetrain...

Agree 100% with cascade11. Loyalty used to be a non-issue 10 years ago and now it's becoming a prerequisite. Austin and I played together and graduated together back in '97. He has a lot of potential if given the opportunity. As many of you probably know, he was coached by the ORIGINAL Coach Mac...which means he comes from the era that MC is traditionally known for and has been taught first hand the tactics of great preparation.

The flipside is that the politics in Lynchburg can be brutal to deal with and great players/asst coaches don't always equate to great head coaches. Nevertheless, I just hope Moorehead focuses his interviews on our tradition and how important it is to restore it. IMO, this last jobhopper that they hired did more to hurt the program than he did to help it. I understand that some folks think that he was great, but one season quickly becomes irrelevant once you acknowledge the bigger picture. He embarrassed the program by making it look like a launching pad for other jobs.

Hi everyone, this is my first post but here in Tullahoma the word is Steve Mathews will be the new football coach at Moore Co. or at least his job to turn down. He is a very good coach and we would hate to lose him.

Welcome to CoachT. Is Steve the HC at Tullahoma? Odd for a coach to leave that level to come down to 1A ball. What is the reason for this?

Unless things have changed, the Head Coach at Tullahoma is named Coach Olive. WE have scrimmaged them for yrs at OHS and I am pretty sure they didn't have a change at HC in Aug. I assume that Matthews is one of their coordinators. Wingman would be able to tell you for sure or 5a football fan.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
