Now that the regular season is over I figured it was time to look back on the season and look at district play. Pickett Co. finished the regular season at 19-7, on an 8 games winning streak. They beat such teams as Jackson Co, Clay Co, Temple, Clinton Co KY, and Van Buren on said streak. They go into district play with the best record and will be the number 1 seed in the tournament. They play on thursday, not sure what time, I'm sure someone can help me out with that, against either Clarkrange or RBS. Some highlights from the season: Jacob Wright scored his 2,000 point against Clay Co., T.C. Capps scored his 1,000 point somewhere around christmas time. Brent Logan is 14 points away from 1,000 points, making this the most dynamic scoring group since Aaron, Crouch, and Adam Asberry in 2000-01. Good luck to the Bobcats and all the other teams.

PC won this game. To save my life I can't remember the score though. I have never seen a team that depended more on one player than I did tonight. And people say PC wouldn't be anything without Jacob. Clarkrange would be NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING without Upchurch. He had to have 2/3 of Clarkrange's points in this game, if not more. Another win for the Bobcats!

7asuperfan,

Knowing PC pretty well myself. I thought I'd give this post some action. Who do you think has had the best single season since let's say 1990? I'll go a little further, the best clutch shooter also?

Well with much respect to E Mitch, Eugene, Nat Aar, Chad C......You gotta go with Joe Amonett don't ya? Won it in 95, runner up in 93. One, if not the best players ever to come from the upper cumberland, played at Wake Forrest. Free throws go a long way in the clutch department, and he was like over 95% for his career, so thats my pick. What's yours?

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
