District 4-A Tournament

I understand that Oliver Springs only beat Wartburg by 1 but I do not see Wartburg staying close in this game. And I understand about having pride but I also understand that it is very hard for a team to beat the same team 4 times in a year and Wartburg only beat Oakdale by what 2 points in two of the three games that they played in already I am just saying that as a former coach I would look at my teams best option to making it to Sub-State. Throwing District tournament games is probably why you are a FORMER coach!

 

The people in Oakdale would not be very happy with the thoughts of this years team finishing in 4th place and then in the event that we do see Wartburg again. What if they beat us and then we would have nothing to show for our season except a 4th place in the dist.

 

In tournament time it is best to play the games that are in front of you! Oakdale needs to go for the win. The fact that we are even having this discussion is rediculous! Oakdale will be playing for respect and pride in the consolation game. In tournaments the truth is that winning is good and losing is bad! If you are good enough to make it to a sub-state game it doesn't matter what seed you go in to the tournament with! Throwing in the towel monday should not even be an option for the snows!

 

At the beginning of the season I thought that we would finish 1 or 2 in the district I still believe we should give it our best attempt on monday to finish 3rd!

I do not see anyone from this Dirstict beating Oliver Springs right now they looked very good the other night.

I understand what 1-3pointer is saying though I do not see Wartburg beating Oakdale 4 times in a season But I understand not wanting my team to lose either. So would you want your team to come in 3rd place in the district and play most likely 2 games in the regional and be done or finish 4th in the district and have a shot at playing a Sub-State game.

SuperDave, I do not see Oakdale people being happy with a 3rd place finish either. I thought this team should had won the District out right. They had not played like I thought they would had this season at all. And you must agree on that point.

I do not think Wartburg will beat OZ Monday night. District 4 should sweep District 3 in the regionals so who will go to Sub-State time will tell.

Any coach that out right throws a game should be FIRED immediately!

 

Wartburg has beat us the last 5 or 6 times we have played them. I just think that we need to win all the games that we can win! All I'm saying is this we have not beat Wartburg this year and We have not beat OS this year either. We will have a tough match up either way. I would rather do as well as I can in this tournament and then see where things stack up.

We ran in to one unexpected problem this year in the district. Wartburg didn't blow up under the transition and wound up being much better than many around morgan county thought!

 

The true question is are we going to let a loss to Wartburg cost us one game or two?

I see your point and agree with you Superdave. The way I see it Oakdale has played 2 close games with oliver springs something around 6 points each time and played 2 close games with Wartburg 1 point each time. I think that Oakdale should win their game and then either way they will be facing a team they have not beaten this year either Wartburg or OS. They need to try to do all they can to get back on a winning track before region begins. These same people that are saying that wartburg wouldn't beat oakdale again are the same ones that said wartburg wouldn't beat oakdale at all in the beginning of the season so i don't think that the oakdale coach needs to take their advice very much.

 

Wartburg and Oliver Springs will be a good game and I will give the edge to OS by a little. 51-49

Well Superdave what has happen to Oakdale? At least they will have 1 more shot at Wartburg.

 

Wartburg game last night was a total different kind of game then the first one. They let them play most of the game and a time or two the hard fouls kind of got out of hand. Best of luck to all the teams

Well, the tourney was exciting to watch. Congrats to the Lady cats on first place. Wartburg played a tough game. Congrats to the Lady Jackets as well for defeating Oakdale. They played very well against the lady eagles. I think the region will be dominated by this district. The other district seems to be very weak this year. If all teams come out ready to play, I predict well see oz, Wartburg, Coalfield, or Oakdale in the championship game.
