NFL Draft and Free Agents

Recommended Posts

As free agent season opens and the draft is approaching, what players and positions do you think they should be targeting?

/thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I think the Titans are doing well so for signing Tight end Alge Crumpler was a nice surprise he is a great overall TE he can really stretch a defense for a TE in the passing game and can also block very well so he isn't a one dimension TE who can either block or catch but can't do both.

I think the Titans should also take a look at adding Crumpler's former teammate Warrick Dunn he still has some years left in him and he wouldn't have to be a everydown back and could be a great mentor to White and Henry plus Dunn is a great guy to have in the locker room.

Jevon Kearse has been reunited with the Titans.

I think this can turnout to be a good pickup if Jevon can stay healthy. I think he can rejuvenate his career a little bit with Kyle Vanden Bosch on the other side and Albert Haynesworth and Tony Brown in the middle could make for a very strong front four.

Titans pick up Jake Scott at OG, which is even better news as it deletes the Colts again.

I would consider all of the FA signings by the Titans an upgrade at every position.

Now, they need to land someone at WR or RB (Warrick Dunn would look nice in two-tone blue).

No way were they going to pay stupid money to keep the players they lost, or pay money for stupid players (see Ben Troupe). What Parcells sees in Randy Starks is beyond me. Both Laboy and Odom haven't shown they are everydown DEs. Or healthy ones either.

I think the draft board for the Titans is ever evolving, with the need now for playmakers AND d-line.

I would pick Rashard Mendenhall if available over a WR- he would provide quicker dividends. Pick up a vet WR and wait until next year for FA.

This is a great deal and more than makes up for losing Jacob Bell and as you said takes away key component in the Colts offense as he has started 57 games, including a current streak of 55 straight. All but four of his starts came at right guard but he can play both. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I agree as I said earlier I think Warrick Dunn would make a great addition if he can be got at a reasonable price. He would be a great 3rd down back because of his quickness and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

Well Parcells probably sees that he can't be any worse than what we already have so lets see what he can do.

The Titans have signed WR Justin McCareins which is a solid pickup at low price and should provide depth and puch the other guys for playing time.

I had read that the Titans were talking with DT Grady Jackson that would be a very good pickup to get run stuffer like him for overall depth as well as short yardage and goal line situations.

Two names that have come on the market that the Titans will probably take peek at were both cut by the Lions today RB Kevin Jones and DE Kalimba Edwards

The Titans don't need another RB especailly one with first round money they can pick up a solid veteran to provide depth. I still think for that first pick the Titans have to go receiver especially if one of the following four are still available with the #24 pick! I don't think you can go wrong with either one of these guys Jackson is probably the most value pick as a return specialist who can take to the house everytime he touches it and could help with the whole that the Titans had in the return game this past season.

Malcolm Kelly (6'4, 224, 4.55) Oklahoma

DeSean Jackson (5'10, 170, 4.35) California

Devin Thomas (6'2, 216, 4.40) Michigan State

Limas Sweed (6'4, 215, 4.52) Texas

The problem inherent in picking a WR in the first round is that they take typically three years to develop. About one per year seems to step up and be a factor. The question at #24 is, which one left would be that type of player? Remember, they picked up three wide receivers a few years back, and Roydell Williams of all people has emerged as the one who separated himself. Brandon Jones, the favorite going into this year, just can't stay healthy or consistent. Paul Williams seems to be a wasted pick. Mike Williams is way too slow and fat. Hopefully Justin Mac has something left in the tank after doing nothing with the Jets.

Since the Titans really can't wait three years, this is why I think picking a change of pace, pass catching RB would be smarter. Plus, you get someone who might be serviceable on kickoffs. I don't get the sense that they fully trust Lendale, and everyone agrees they stretched on our second round combine wonder last year. With CBrown now a Texan, they have space. Maybe training camp cuts will open up some possible veterans.

    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
