Marshall Co. jumped out early outscoring Gibson Co., 23-8, in the 1st qtr as March had 10 (2 of 3 FT's), McQueen hit 2 threes, Simmons had 4 (0 of 2 FT's) and Moffett hit a three while GC's Griffen, Butler, and Jennings each had 2 and Garner hit 2 of 2 FT's.

 

In the 2nd qtr, MC outscored GC, 19-7, as McLean had 7 (1 of 3 FT's), Hopkina had 5 with a three, March had 4, and Moffett hit a three while GC's Butler hit a three, Griffen had 2, and Pate hit 2 of 2 FT's as MC led at the half, 42-15.

Your right, when you shoot that good AND shoot 20 more free throws, and only foul 9 times to the other teams 22. I would say that is the recipe for a tail kickin.

Snowball effect. I am sure that after the 1st quarter, the Wizard (GURU) tried to make it wild to get back in the game, and it went the other way.

The foul situation was fairly close in the 1st half as Marshall had 3 to Gibson's 7, but Gibson's #54 Heather Griffen had 2 and #55 Jenilee Pate had 4. Pate fouled out in the 3rd qtr, I believe. Griffen stepped up her play with 6 pts in the 3rd and 8 pts in the 4th, but it was not quite enough to overcome the 27 pt half time lead by Marshall. In the 4th qtr, Marshall shot 11 of 16 from the line as Gibson was forced to foul. Marshall has shot fairly well all season as March takes some pretty high percentage shots underneath and three point shooters McQueen and Moffett are also accurate. Marshall is very well rounded with Danika Hopkins and Jakerra Simmons also adding points when needed.

WOW... Gibson County's first half killed them! The foul situation on the box score looks a little one sided i wasn't at the game so can anyone that was there tell me was the fouls mostly to stop the clock towards the end of the game?

LOL!!!! No, we were not forced to foul at the end of the game....we were losing by 25 points through the whole fourth quarter...most of the 22 fouls were called on bs calls throughout the game..Jennilee's foul that she fouled out on was pretty insane as well as several of the other calls. Coach McMillan asked one of the refs for an explanation on some of the fouls and all he could do was stand there with his whistle in his mouth. The fouls made a difference but there was no way we would've won even if we would've hit our shots. When a team shoots 65% from 3 pt land and 62% from the floor it's almost impossible to beat the team unless your having a game just like it. We had a great year to say the least. We are very young and have one of the best Freshman classes coming up...should be interesting for the next few years!!!!!

I agree, GCPioneer, that the fouls on Pate and Griffen in the 1st half were just touch fouls from my view high in the stands.
