Coach Maxwell was named coach at Riverdale on April 30. 37 days is enough time to find a replacement. Did the decision makers at IHS take an early vacation? /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

Is the team going to any camps this summer? How many girls are on the roster? I know they graduated four senior starters.

Or did they start too late trying to find a suitable replacement or has politics gotten involed in the recruiting and the school is not involved in the selection process? Lack of leadership to provide solutions to this problem is obvious and it is obvious it is way down the list of interest to the school board member in that district. Sorry 20, do you have an interest in running? 37 days is quite a time and could it be that temporarily, the system used may have to be scrapped and get someone in place that can help with the job. Hiring a teacher to coach sometimes gets to be a problem because of certification issues. Is that the problem?

Wow...that does sound like a mess, unfortunately. Sounds like it might take three or four years for this program to get back to 20 win seasons.

Those are good comments and are the sentiments of many on this board no matter if you are William countians arre not. I'm not sure you can blame maxwell or not. Many other schools have had the same situation happen this year and have worked their way thru it to their credit. The situation here , is that at one tome, for whatever the reason, WC had 5 or 6 coaching jobs open and you very well could see the train hitting the wall somewhere, The reason for Maxwell leaving has never quite been brought out. Rumor has it that Williamson has a habit of not retaining coaches when they get close to tenure. Whether this is true or not is unable to be verified. However, what seems to be true is that the turnover of coaches in the County is very high except for Brentwood high School, However even coaches of long tenure, such as the one at Page,, are beginning to leave their posts for sone reason or another as she had been there for 23 years. Another coach at Ravenwood who had one of the best seasons the school had, was told by the principal of the school that the school wanted to go in a different direction and to the schoolsfavor, had offered the coach the AD's job and a coaching position in another sport. They did secure a very qualified coach from the schools faculty however. Parental interference was posted as the reason for the dismissal of the old coach which very interestingly is within miles of Indy and would be a great coach for the school. All of the situations are within the purvue of acceptability and rights of the principals.of the school and very likely have been done for good reasons If indeed the player mentioned did leave, she is an excellent player and with everything going on her parents have seen the problem. The AD at Indy is a great AD and the principal is moving to another school for whatever the reason. Indy is in a high growth area and should be a prime situation to build a program and to her credit, talking with her made this poster think her intentions were for the long term and she had no intentions in leaving. She, supposedly left a good group of players but if the player mentioned has left, there will be no starters left at the school as the last player leaving was considered by many watched her as a much better tnan average player.

Again, and this is the last time this poster will post about this, this poster is a players advocate. By being so, this poster is a student/player parent advocate. Somehow, this all figures about something to do with money but it also has to do with tax dollars. Somebody does not seem to care about the student, their needs or their goals. That is the impression. Filling coaching positions in Williamson is very difficult and someone getting tenure in Williamson has a position of high respect and it is a great county and a great educational situation. Volleyball and Soccer are very great sports in the County but really only because Brentwood high School has lifted it up and have kept it high. Page did it for so many years until surprisingly Indy, with rezoning took quite a bit of the student population and Indy is great in VB but now Indy can't even make their mind up on a Basketball Coach.

Centy has had a history, I believe, of having if I'm not mistaken, six coaches in five years and it is a great looking school and has a great reputation in education. You can't be good at everything.

The School Board is filled with very good people, in fact, excellent. They keep up with everything to a T and between the School Board and the County Commision, are very concerned with the tax dollar as it should be. Coaching and extracurricular activities are not their interest however to the credit of the School Board, they have a District Athletic Director so to speak. The Director of Schools is an excellent person, one which keeps on top of everything. Then how does all of this happen. Politics runs in a lot of directions in a great school system and it appears that organizing the Coaching situations and retaining asst coaches have not been a great priority factor. If this poster meant coaching is a cut throat business, this poster can't think of it as that. This coach was hired, had two 20+ winning seasons and came to Indy looking for a long term stay. this coach developed the next player she had or more to be able to accept a scholarship, she thought. Indy was thought as an upcoming school for girls basketball. The coach at Ravenwood gave the school a great season of wins and for whatever, the coach was told the school was going in a different direction, which is their perogative. There are other sides of this situation and along with others, the time is now to stop posting about this. Whatever is going to happen will happen and its all right. As far as this poster is concerned, the parties involved can't do any better. There is no way or they would have done it already. But for those student athletes who have aspirations and their parents, keep your chins up. Things will break soon. A principal will be hired and so will a coach.i

The thought of running has crossed my mind on more than one occasion.

PH, you said a mouthful in this post. The end to this story still is "the wait". It is all the unknown that is hard on everyone, especially the student atheletes.
