I have alot of footage on Mini DV tapes.

My DVD recorder supports the DVD formats -+R / -+RW.

 

Which format should I use for recording to hand out DVDs to prospective schools/coaches etc?

 

Is there one more widely acceptable than another?

The R means read only, the RW is read and write (for data back-up, etc where you need to change what is on the disc). For handing out DVDs the R is all you need and it is less expensive too.

-R will give you the best compatibility, +R is more durable and will hold up better with age and abuse.

 

For archival, go with +R. For what you're doing, -R would be the best choice.

Didn't want to start a new thread. So I picked the most recent one figuring someone would be back. I need to get a word document into a highlight DVD. What does the .doc have to be converted to?

Depends on what editing software your using. For some you don't have to change anything.

I was told to change it to a JPEG and any VE software could deal with it. I was also told that to change it to a .jpg to just open it in paint and change the file type. That didn't work. Someone else said I would have to use Photoshop or like to change it to .jpg. Any advise appreciated.

The idea is to get it to an .avi file or .mpeg file. How you're going to do that, I have no clue from a word document.

Can I copy +R to -R and visa/versa? Or do I need to stay with the original format.
