Actueally I've been impressed with the goalkeeper from Dobyns-Bennett this year, he has been solid against just about every team they have played. It is a shame he is a senior and is leaving next year, would have been nice to have him back.

Adrian Womack (spelling?) From Alcoa. Has an amazing season and bailed Alcoa out several times. Can't beleive he didn't get all district. Will be nice to see him in the back and Derrick Brodus up top next year!

 

Didn't Adrian Womack play sweeper for Alcoa or do I just have the wrong name for who I think he is?

Kyle Applebee - Blackman Named to All District First Team

James Holt - Riverdale Named All District Defensive MVP

 

Both have only allowed 9 goals total in regular season play

 

 

Would have to agree here. Holt is the full package and a monster in the goal. He looks two heads taller than everyone else on the field. Plays angles as good as I have seen, plays low balls exceptional well for a tall man, and has exceptionally good hands. That said, I am also very impressed with Applebee. He gets in the air well, organizes well, and is very quick to the ball. Since he is a year behind Holt, he might be one of the best to come out of middle tennessee in a while. Just my opinion though.

Jordan leedle for brentwood high school is definately the best goalie overall. He is extremely quick and has great reflexes. He has over 40 shutouts in his high school career playing in a though division. His only drawback is his lack of height.

Holt and Farmer are pretty good too.

Ryan Bristol is a very talented sophmore but he went out early with a broken foot and i think might have gotten kicked out of BGA.

A really good young keeper is MBA's Alex Blanton. I went to their game vs BGA yesterday (2-1 mba) and was impressed with his command of the area and his ability to make flying saves. BGA's goal was a pk. Look for more from this freshman in years to come.

All i really know are the middle tennessee keepers

Derosa(catholic)-solid keeper

Coffman(hendersonville)-much improved and very solid

Farmer(independence)-NOT very good, too much hype and let 7 goals go by vs. brentwood in 2 games

Leedle(brentwood)-best in state

Holt-(riverdale)-has great size and agility so i put him at #2

Bristol(bga)-very good but very young, hard to beat him

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
