First of all CONGRATS to the 8 teams that made it this far. They are alot of teams that would like to be here. I grew up in West TN and now live in Chattanooga. They aren't that many difference. Young Men Playing Baseball! Good Luck to all the Teams. East, West and Middle!

Before you write off the east, you should be aware that the best team in the entire state (and one of the top 10 in the nation) is AAA Farragut from right here in knoxville. In fact, AAA, Bearden which is Farraguts next door neighbor went 33-5 (3 of those losses were to Farragut) and didnt make it to the state because Halls, another Knoxville team beat them in the playoffs. Halls then lost to another east tennessee team in the sectional. In single A ball in east tennessee, Lookout Valley can play with anybody. Rockwood beat LV earlier in the season in a barn burner, so dont overlook the tigers. They also beat McMinn Central (a AA team that made it to the sectionals) twice this year. And even Harriman whose 17-17 record may not be as impressive as those west and middle TN teams beat Rockwood 2 out of 5 times they played including the region championship game. It may be that the competition in the east is tougher or that the teams play alot of games out of their classification. I know Rockwood did this yr. Also I believe that Jackson Christian and Friendship Christian are private schools (correct me if I am wrong) and everyone knows they have an advantage over public schools. I am not going to get into all that here, but if you have ever visited LV, Rockwood, or Harriman, you would have noticed that they are sleepy little towns that only have a small population to draw from and its hit or miss as to whether any good athletes are born there or not. Unlike private schools that can pull from a wide area and across county lines. There are Roane County kids that go to private schools in knoxville (which is legal as long as you can pay the tuition and get to school each day) but there are NO knoxville area kids that drive to Rockwood or Harriman or Midway or any other public school in Roane County to play ball for them! The point I am making is that if your talent pool is limited only to your small community, then you are at the mercy of fate as to whether or not you get any good athletes. A private school (even the ones that dont recruit or offer scholarships) can pull kids from multiple cities, towns and counties! This gives them an advantage that small schools cant compete with. That is a fact and as long as the TSSAA allows it to happen, public schools will be at a disadvantage and they have to live with it. With that said, I think west and middle fans had not get too overconfident looking at records or bragging about the past. Ever year is different and occasionally a small east tn team will come in their and blow the doors off the mighty west and middle teams. Ten yrs ago, Coalfield (which is tiny compared to Rockwood and Harriman) won it all. So go ahead and write off the east, consider them an easy win but dont get on here and cry if you get ambushed by one of them!

You really know your stuff. I never meant that East TN was absolutely terrible, but I just think that West TN is more competitve. You missed two things. 1.) JCS put up 50something runs on two east TN teams last year at state. 2.) JCS and FCA have absolutely NO competitve advantage over public schools. JCS IS a small school. Do you know how many students there are in the high school???? about 400 maybe less. there are 60 in the senior class this year. So don't say that JCS has an advantage over the small schools. They are a small school. How many starters on the JCS baseball team are from outside of the city of Jackson or county of Madison? a big fat goose egg, zip, zero, nada East TN may be better than I give them credit, but don't even start on public vs. private.

Well before everyone continues to count East Tennessee teams out of the title this year take this into consideration. Harriman went to State in 2005 in Memphis and was 2 games away from Winning it all that year with only 13 players on the team.Thay was put out in games 13 and 14 to USJ who was later that year striped of the title. This years team has 18 players 3 of which are Seniors who was freshman of that 2005 team. Congrats to all 8 teams who made it and good luck this week have fun play hard be safe. Good luck to both Roane County teams Harriman and Rockwood I will be pulling for both of you.

My son was the Catcher (Our only Senior last year) in the Second and Third game with JCS. He told me no matter what we threw , you guys were knocking the @#*% out of the ball. I wish we could have played the third game the next day so we could get re-focused. You needed some of those hits the next day. Our High School runs around 50 Seniors each year so we know how you feel. 2 years ago we beat a good FCA team to go to State. With FCA & JCS on the same side who will come out on top? Do you think you will score 50 runs this year? Good Luck to both teams!

Do I think we'll score 50 in one day? No , but I do think that we can put up a whole lot runs on demand. We shall see if it happens. If it does, JCS will be untouchable. ONLY if they hit the ball as well as they can. I guess that is true with many teams though.

May Teams will be hopeing to hit the ball like they did in regular season. Pitching should be better at this point. How many runs did JCS score this year. Good Luck on your side of the bracket with FCA. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
