First of all its week 1. Second of all i was reading another post by you and who is the DE, RB, FS/SS that cookeville didn't have in week 0? I personally can only think of two and that is a DE and a LB who will actually see playing time.

Back to the game. I think Cookeville wins easily and will see subs as early as the 2nd quarter. No disrespect to White Co. I just don't think there program is where it has been in the past. Cookeville by 4. . . touchdowns.

Not to beat the drum or anything, but I think this will be a better game than anyone thinks. Sure, Cookeville will be one-game up on White Co, but look who they played. I agree with Mr. Heisman on the "missing" players for Cookeville, can't think of but one who was not playing. White Co is bringing back a lot of starters/players that have made some names for themselves in the off season. As usual, there will be a BIG crowd in Sparta Friday night, and what a game it will be!!!!

Fastpitchnut why do you think it'll be closer than what people say? Just cause they are returning alot of starters or do you know something I don't? I just don't see this game being very close. I see sparta scoring late because the cavs will play everyone again but I personally don't see this one within 30 points.

No, I really don't know anything that no one else does, just know what I have seen the past two months. I have seen both teams in scrimmages & both have their strengths & weaknesses. As long as Sparta doesn't both every single play, it shouldn't be the huge blowout it was last year. Now I didn't say they would win, just don't be surprised that it isn't the HUGE lopsided score you're expecting.....See you there!!

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
