The Wilson Post in Lebanon reported Wednesday, Jan. 11 that Cumberland had made an official request to use, renovate and maintain Lebanon High's soon-to-be-vacant Nokes Lasater Field. The local school board will study the issue in a Jan. 21 work session and hopefully take action on Feb. 6. CU wants to play at N-L this fall.

CU has gone 8-3, 7-3 and 8-3 over a three-year span. That's pretty solid football. Congratulations to the Bulldogs and a very good group of seniors. Thanks for your efforts through the years,

Eddie,

You seem to know alot about CU Football.

Why don't they do more for the seniors at Senior Day?

I noticed at Bethel their seniors were presented with a nice frame with their pictures etc on them. Then at Lindsey Wilson their seniors were presented with plaques.

At Cumberland they got their name called out over the PA system and that was it.

Also, why don't they have some kind of End of The Year Banquet. Only school and football program that I know of that doesn't do some kind of End of The Year Banquet to recognize Seniors, Conference and NAIA awards etc.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
