Privates going DII?

By enrollment numbers, FRA could drop down just like Ezell. However I am sure FRA will go ahead and move to D2. CPA as well. DCA is not a lock yet.

 

 

Had a JCS parent tell me last week that it had already been decided and announced that they would be making the jump. I can't find anything to confirm it?

No mass exodus as of yet. I would say the # 1.8 has something to do with it; although TSSAA's research seems to indicate otherwise. We'll see how this plays out over the next several months.

TSSAA can spit out all the research that they want to. I have to say it was a great day for Jo Byrns when they put the multiplier in. That high school show on friday nights once called us the poster child for the private school multiplier and I have to agree it certainly helped having the private schools gone from our region. We still have a couple though

More private schools are considering the jump because of the new football classes. The regular season there will be 3 classes. Post season it will be 6 classes. For example, USJ and JCS are projected 2A in the regular season, and 3A in the post season. I am pastng the district they are projected to be in.

 

District 14: 3A - Camden, Jackson Central-Merry, Jackson Christian School, University School of Jackson; 4A - Bolivar, Chester County, Lexington, Liberty, McNairy Central, South Side

Lipscomb will not be making the jump. Not sure about Goodpasture as they have already tried the ranks of Dll.

That is very interesting. This is the first that I have heard of this issue. I guess the Z-plan has a lot of people reconsidering the jump over.

I am not sure how often they have the option, but they would have to make the change in every sport. That would be very costly even for USJ and JCS. They would have to do a lot of traveling since there are no D2 schools around here. I don't think there has been any decision made. Pretty sure it would be considered big news, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if they did jump. If I had to guess though, I would say they don't. We'll see.

So many act is if putting private schools in div 2 will make everything right in high school sports. But just as soon as that ever happens, the same people will find something else to moan and complain about. I can hear it now, the next will be to split off rural and city schools. Then we will break it down to schools with the best facilities, and those with bad facilities. If we keep going at this rate everyone will be in their own division and every team will get a gold ball just for being them....isn't that warm and fuzzy? I say, make 1 division 1 championship and make it mean something for the team who wins it.

Camden - 586 Jackson Central Merry - 1691 (this has dropped to around 1000) Jackson Christian School - 223

University School - 316 Bolivar - 859 Chester County - 673 Lexington - 916 McNairy Central - 756

South Side - 948 Liberty- nothing posted, but heard around 1100 students

 

That should pretty much answer it. Hear Jackson Christian, University School, Trinity, and Fayette Academy are all making the jump.
