I have heard rumblings coming from RBS that their QB has left the team and others are soon to follow. Why would a kid abandon his team with only 4 weeks to go? Does the QB play any other sport, if so what are the school rules about quiting one sport to go play another? Hope RBS can recover>

Don't know about anyone quitting, but I do know they have a back that was injured friday night. Looks like thr RBS season is all but over. Guess it will be time for young players to get some play time>

I of course have no idea about any of this, but I do hope the boys can hang in there. It has to be discouraging week in and week out. Any kid has to be getting the blues. They deserve respect for sticking it out. Here's hoping RBS can pull it together for many great seasons in the future. See you Friday when the Big Green rolls into RBS.

Regit, I have also heard a rumor about this. The rumor I heard was that all the football players that play basketball are talking about calling it quits so they can focus on basketball. I personally think this is a joke. I know alot of it has to do with the lack of support from the basketball program. I also know that the football players were told by a certain someone that the work they put in from here on out is mainly for next season because this season is pretty much over. I also think alot of it has to do with players being afraid of getting hurt. I am not going to say what I think all of the problems with the RBS program is because I get accused of coach bashing. I just pray for these boys and hope this program can be turned around.

Amen Champ. Basketball at RBS has not supported football 100%. Kids will play B-ball knowing they will never get to play when if they were on the football team they would be productive players. Hope things will change soon but I doubt it.

sure we have players quitting its no secret anymore, the word gets out fast !! guess another bomb dropped on RBS, basketball must help get kids places for them to quit playing football, heard that u can't go anywhere amd get a scholarship playing football in RBS, I think that is a joke !! RBS football has had alot of support from alot of people and fans that r young and old, some that have been supporters for many years no matter the results !! sure basketball gets its attention!! why would anyone want to quit playing football because of basketball neither sport comes with no injuries, they r both contact sports, football the worse one but kids get hurt all the time !! with all of the attention that football is getting right now i just can't figure this one out ?????? WHO KNOWS ???? guess basketball is the more important sport in RBS !! don't see why all sports can't have their own time, even though i know they r suppose to !! if kids want to play 3 sports and have the time, why should one overrule the other ??????

Just Asking !!!

Go Dawgs !!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
