Let hear your pre-season rankings for this district.

1.CG

2.UC

3.Grainger

4.Claiborne

5.GP

6.PF

Let's see, Rutledge won the last two tournament titles, McBee hasn't graduated yet and Grainger is getting picked third. Good enough for the regular season, but basketball is a tournament sport. Pre-season really doesn't matter.

Can't speak for District 1 but I see District 2 as follows

1. Union Co. - would change if the rumor of the point guard blowing out his knee is true.

2. GP - gelled as a team following the loss of their best player last year. Also have some athletic big men that could give teams some matchup problems.

3. Grainger - McBee's going to get his points every night. Very beatable if you don't let their role players have big nights.

4. Gumberland Gap - lost their point guard and best post. Two hard positions to replace.

5. Claiborne - not very good last year. Not sure what they have returning.

6. Pigeon Forge - lost 4 if not 5 starters off a team that was not very good to start with.

Could you please spell out the names of the teams you are referring to, just so that everyone is on the same page. Some people from around the state may not know those initials. Thanks

Union's Vittetoe has been lost for the season with a knee injury....

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
