Div II AA - East/Middle Regionals

Does anyone have any idea of how the regionals work for Div II AA East/Middle? TSSAA has info on substate, but it is really unclear to me as to how the East/Middle seadings will be determined. Are games just for seeding purposes or are they elimination (or both) ?? It would be great if someone could provide brackets and/or a playoff schedule. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

This was posted last year (by BAPRIDE) regarding how Div II AA East/Middle worked. No idea if it is still the same or not....

Oct 12 2007 - 11:40 AM Post #8

The reason that this is happening this year is that D2 has been divided into A and AA. 4 teams from each are going to state instead of the 8 that have gone in the past.

Here is what is going to happen from here on in AA:

District Semis Tuesday 10/16

BA v HH

BGA v Fr. Ryan

District Championship Thursday 10/18

Middle/East Region Games Saturday 10/20

#1 Middle v #1 East for #1/#2 seeding at sub-state

#2 Middle v #2 East for #3/#4 seeding at sub-state

#3 Middle v #4 Middle for #8 seeding at sub-state

Sub-State Saturday 10/25

#1 Middle/East v #8 above

#1 West v #4 Middle/East

#2 West v #3 Middle/East

#3 West v #2 Middle/East

The 4 winners go to state

WEST Division II Regional Tournament

Monday, October 20

#4 St. Benedict VS #5 Hutchison

#3 St. Agnes VS #6 St. Mary's

Tuesday, October 21

#1 ECS VS Winner of #4/#5

#2 Briarcrest VS Winner of #3/#4

Thursday, October 23

Winner #1 or #4 or #5 VS Winner #2 or #3 or #4 = Regional Champion

Consolation Match

Third and Fourth play for Third Place.

It would be much easier if I could cut and paste the chart, but can't get it to work. Will keep trying.

Thanks H2O. So it's possible (though not likely) that the top 2 seeds from regular season can be left out of substate as only three teams go from the West. Is this right? I am new to TN so this was a surprise to me. It seems to make regular season somewhat insignificant other than simply "playoff tournament prep".

Thanks for the information. If anyone has the district game schedules for East and Middle, please post them. H2ODOG has provided the West in another post.

Technically you are correct and yes the regular season only establishes the teams position in the playoffs. In the West, the winner is the Regional Champion, don't know anything about the Mid/East set up. This (SubState) was implemented last year in an attempt to keep fewer teams from having to travel to State and having the girls miss a week of school playing each other. They also divided Division II into two groups. The A group sends five teams from the West to play three Mid/East teams in substate. Its all about geography and numbers of schools in the respective regions.

10/16

BGA 4-0 St. Cecelia

JPII 2-1 Ensworth

Father Ryan 2-0 Harpeth Hall

Not sure of the other games. Probably:

Brentwood Academy vs St. Andrews?

USN vs Davidson Academy?

Where Webb fit in, I'm not sure.

Anyway, BGA play JPII on 10/21 and I would imagine Father Ryan would be at Brentwood Academy in the D11 Middle Region SF.

Is there something that shows the bracketing? There's so many teams, it would be nice to see the whole picture.

Webb plays GPS today (friday). The winner then plays Baylor next Tuesday to determine East #1 and #2 seeds for East/Middle Regionals. The loser is done for the season.

I don't know the dates but here is what happens at Regionals (as copied from another post above).

Middle/East Region Games

#1 Middle v #1 East for #1/#2 seeding at sub-state

#2 Middle v #2 East for #3/#4 seeding at sub-state

#3 Middle v #4 Middle for #8 seeding at sub-state

Thank you for the kind words bigred4life. We are very glad to win and advance in the playoffs. Looking forward to coming to Baylor this Tuesday and I am very glad that the game is for seeding and not elimination. Hoping for great weather!

Congratulations to GPS. They defeated Knox Webb 4-1 Friday night in substate and will travel to Baylor next Tuesday night to determine seeding. Looking forward to another battle between these longtime rivals....glad that both will move on to the next round.
