Not sure about everyone else because i didn't follpw anyone else over the summer (the time when hard work pays off) I do know that White County will be hard to beat. I have read several post that year talking about the short coming of the group of girls that have played AAU for several years, Well hear they are. If they get to run, This group could make some noise. Proud to be a part of it. go warriorettes!!!

SIEGEL

The Lady Stars basketball team is back to work and looking to build off of last year's squad that advanced to the first round of the Region 4-AAA tournament.

There are holes to fill for Siegel, especially on offense, as the Lady Stars look to replace departed seniors Clair Waggener, Allison Wright and Morgan Faulkner, who was the 2008 District 7-AAA co-MVP.

However, a good group of underclassmen return, led by sophomore point guard Shanice Cason for Siegel coach Alan Bush, who says his team, despite some offensive deficiencies, is a very coachable group that will make defense a priority.

"I'm hoping defense is going to be (a strength)," said Bush. "We've got a very unselfish group, and they're pretty smart."

The Lady Stars open their season Nov. 20 at home against Lincoln County.

I heard today there has been 4 players (3 Seniors) to quit the team (Lebanon) over the past two weeks. Has anyone heard anything? /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

iI am sorry to hear that but that happens every year that a new coach arrives on the scene and has a number of seniors that have graduated. Last years freshman class won the District tournament and you knew something was going on but it was hard to know what since except for this poster and some scores out of Shelbyville was the only thing that was heard. The remaining Tower will be good but will she be able to provide the leadership to give them what they need. I'm going to say she will but some other players are going to have to step up with her. This coach will earn her wings early and if history is any guide, the school will show its trend early. The key will be maintaining motivation and not getting down due to the schedule. 7AAA does have a way of not letting up the pressure. This year will be no difference.

Not sure what injuries you are talkling about seems like i talked to one of the girls and she said someone was hurt but would be back after a week or 2 i havent heard of anything serious but doesnt mean it didnt happen...who was hurt

Thats what I heard but not knowing whether it was the fact, decided not to mention names. It will not hurt. It's still RD and Cookeville projected on top but as you know, these schools are itching to get going. You haven't made a comment. What do you think about the classifications for next season?

I dont like it in football as the over all i dony like it because of playoff situations it really doesnt effect us (rutherford co schools)we all play big schools and we are all 6A and 3A I do not like how the playoffs are determined as there are too many scenarios to where no one knows on how it will work as far as going to games it is great we never leave rutherford county

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
