Let me know what you think?

Would really end the season on a high note if we could pull off the upset. If our kids play like they did Friday night, without the fumbles and a wet ball, it could get interesting. Brian seemed to have a hard time throwing the ball. I know he's thrown it a lot better in the past. Looked like it was slipping out of his hand.

It'd be a real positive note on a disapointing season for the seniors. What a better way to do it than to beat the region champs. If the Raiders can run the ball like they did against Goodpasture and if Anderson throws like he has in the past, it should be a great game. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> getcha popcorn ready!

I think the Raiders have a chance to catch the Falcons asleep - it is no secret, even among the most supportive of Lincoln Countians - that LC has came out a tad on the flat side a few times this season. I have seen the Falcons twice and they are very good. But with the region wrapped up they could be down, always tough to tell with teenagers. LC can throw it a little bit (which scares me to death) and of course it will try and run it down your throat and make you like it. But its still the defense that makes the hay over there. And as good as the Raider offense was last year it could only manage 10 points at home in the region championship game. And the offense isn't as good this year. That being said I think the Falcon defense was probably a little bit better last year, and the Raider offense has been solid the past couple weeks ..... So it has the potential to be a good game but a lot of things have to go right for Coffee County to win. Remember, the Raiders have beaten Lincoln County twice since forever - 1981 and 1997 - that's it, although they didn't play for a few years in the early 90's!! But it would be foolish to get our hopes up too high ...... I hope it happens for the kids and coach Nunley, though. It would be a great way to wrap up the season, send off the seniors and a nice block to build on for next year. Good luck!

Saw on the Red Raider website where you say KJ needs 55 yds to have a 1000 yd season. I hope he gets it to at least make up for some of this disappointing year. At least to cap off this year with an accomplishment like that, might take some of the sting out, for him anyway.

Yea that would be nice. He is a great kid, really. And I'm almost 100% sure if you asked him he would take a 7-3 season and a region championship before he took 1,000 yards. And it's the approach and attitude like he has that has to make you happy for him - should he get there. It will be a tough defense to do it against, though.

I do not think you will have to worry about the Falcons coming out flat. They have been more focused this week in practice than ever. They lost heart breakers to Blackman and Independence, and were screwed out of a game by the refs against Baylor. They are 6 and 3, but could just as easily be 9 and 0. You have to play the cards that are dealt to you, and they will. Coach Thompson has this group ready to go into the playoffs on a positive note, so anyone that thinks they will be caught off guard will be in for a suprise of their own. The weather should be perfect for this one!!!

I would be surprise if Coach Thompson didn't have the Falcons ready to play.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
