CAK vs. FRA

Well, I was really hoping for a ND CAK final (as I know DonC was even more so) but this should shape up to be a great one regardless.

Wish I could make it, but one of my players who is going into the military has invited me to spend the day with him and his dad. But you know I won't be far from my phone!

Good luck lady Warriors! Make your old middle school coach proud as always!

Remember: Whatsoever you do, do it ALL to the glory of God!

I will give a recap from Middle Tn. perspecive on the game. FRA came out fast and hard. I think ND Fans (not team or coach) was a little surprised that they had not read how they were not supposed to be able to play with ND. FRA scored on 2 throw in which actualy happens more often than you think. ND scored after FRA went up 1-0 to tie game before FRA got the second goal. 2-1 at half. ND never quit and attacked continually in the second half as FRA played a kinda "prevent" defense. That probably has a little to do with the SOG difference. Great crowds very loud but well behaved as usual. Both schools are classy and respectful of each other and their programs. I hope they get to continue to play even wiith the divisional change.

My first time to ever post on a soccer thread. I just wanted to congratulate CAK on getting to the finals and to say that I will be pulling for them. My son is a freshman on the CAK football team and lastnight I had a nice conversation with a CAK girls soccer dad who made the drive up to GP to support our football team. He was heading back to Chattanooga this morning for the finals. I've heard nothing but GREAT things about the soccer teams (both girls and boys). Although I'm not "soccer savvy" I will be attending some of the soccer games in the future to lend my support. CAK is a great school, but small, and we all need to support each other.

Go get'm Lady Warriors!!

Congrats lady Warriors! You made your old coach so proud!

Greg, you can relax now! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

What the heck are we going to talk about now that the season is over!!!!

Well, it is over in a lot of ways...last game for Cal... sweet and bitter sweet at the same time!

I'll have to say that FRA was a hand full. Very skilled team and well coached. They have a real weapon with the throw-ins in their space.

One of my daughters had the chance to speak with the FRA coach at a restaurant after the game and he was very complimentary of the CAK girls team. Great sportsmanship she thought. Coach Pifer has brought the CAK girls program a long way from our freshman year. Good coaching is an amazing thing. We got to see two really well coached teams today. It was nice to come out with the win, but anyone that loves soccer would have loved that game.

G - I'm sure we'll find something to talk about...how about those Warriors in the Spring?

    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
