I don't have a dog in this hunt but I am a region 5-3a fan and have seen these teams for yrs.

I may be wrong but this might be as deep as Giles has ever been in the playoffs...so I know they are hungry.

DL has been "there" many times.

I know both teams have been dying to play each other again. I listened to part of the DL-Lex game and even the broadcast team was sort of wanting to play Giles again.

I will predict that this game will not be like the other game was. I don't know who might win at this point, but I feel that DL's strategy will be much different. Listen to me when I say they will put more pressure on Bo in many ways and Tobias may still get his yards. I also think that the GC staff will put in a few wrinkles.

I doubt that the DL line will get pushed around as much again. I also doubt that DL can afford to only have the ball as few times as before and expect to win. I also doubt that GC can expect to win if they dominate the clock but give up big plays or quick scores

As much as has been said about that "hit"......I look for Rogers to be a key

Also.....remember whenever you make mistakes ...who pays.

Vandy1 has arranged for the same officiating crew that includes his uncle and brother-in-law.......or something like that

This should be a sellout. I'll be there or due to another commitment will be at the Franklin-Brentwood game

This will be the third time Giles has made it this far.It is the deepest they have got.The kids on this

team have a real chance to make some history.

Both Giles and Lipscomb KNOW they can win this game. The biggest factor will be in mistakes made.

If DL line gets dominated like before it will be GC with the long drives and several scores.

Rogers is a key anytime hes on the feild. If GC cant slow him down it will be short drives for DL and several scores.

This is anyones game, folks can say what they want about how one or the other will win this one,but this game

is a horse of another color.both believe they can and should win. Both are very capable to do so.

One or the other will IMO be the state champs. This will be a great game.

I thought Vandy1 was calling the game via cell phone. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> or is he the instant replay official?

Also... Giles County FANS.....if you cant get up for this one.........well ......you should probably stay home

and watch golf or something more your speed.I have to agree with that rock and roller, yall have been

pretty dadgum lame. Show these boys the respect they deserve and make some noise Friday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of folks say we have no class,I think the fans just have no gas.

LETS GO GILES COUNTY FANS!!!! /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

we wouldn't have needed the band anyway.

Obviously "We didn't NEED the band anyway". They won't score a single point friday night. But the atmosphere of the last game played in that stadium as we know it would have surely been greater with them there till the end.

On to the game, If Giles can stay with DL the way they did last time, Its possible we could see the unravelling of the stangs. They became quite an unruley team at the last meeting. Most officiating teams would have thrown multiple flags on them. The pressure seemed to have a much greater effect on the stangs then, with not nearly as much is on the line as will be friday night. They aren't accustomed to playing a tight game and it really showed. No denying they are deep in talent, this game may very well be decided by which team is deeper in character.

I don't know if this thread can make it to Friday without being locked.

As far as bands go....you got to remember ......most Band directors live in a different dimension. I actually have had one ask me if they could have 45 min to do halftime and another one who wouldn't get the band off the field and cost the team we were playing a 15 yd penalty for delaying the start of the second half. Talk about someone who really knew football. Then there are the bands whose parents come to the game and leave when the band is is finished playing......my my my....how I long for the old days when the football game was the centerpiece of Friday night. I guess we will be hearing bagpipes this week.

Does that DL sideline reporter signal things to the pressbox to the coaches like Marshall co's guy does?

I would like to say that this should be a good game. Hopefully the Lipscomb seniors who have been getting all the unsportsman like conduct calls will get over themselves and start playing for the team. It could cost them a lot more this week then it did last.

Knowing Coach McAdams, the penalties will be addressed and hopefully won't happen again.

it was one senior. not seniors. im sure coach mac has him under and his team under control. other than that infraction lipscomb has been a class act for the most part this season. i highly doubt unsportsman like conduct will play a factor in friday nights ball game.

The Lipscomb sideline reporter does not signal anything to the Lipscomb coaches in the press box. Don't know what he would send up that the Lipscomb sideline coaches don't already know.

Good to hear about Sam Edgmon in the UT JV game the other day. His good Lipscomb High Friend on the team, Ben Lehning had two catches in the game, one for a TD

The signals that I would be referring to with Marshall co is alignments, etc.....with the DL guy from what I heard on the radio ...it is about what kind of sandwich he needs at halftime

IMO Giles County does not have the defense to stop DL for 4 quarters. Last game the Rogers kid had 6 carries for something like 160yds.and the quarterback could have thrown for 400. GC slowed the game down by having the ability to read the defense from the quarterback position and run accordingly. DL used 2 safeties for most of the game, i would bet they move 1 up in the box and make Bo throw the football, which has been the weakness of this offense all year.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
