Vandy 1.... Great info you have there. I've often thought about doing something like this for Huntingdon. We're all proud of former alum that you have as a head coach. Coach Mac will be in the Hall of Fame someday and he is one of the best in the state. I have a friend that had a son on the 2002 team that won the title and last year was one of Coach Mac's best jobs. He pulled Fulton offsides twice in the title game against Fulton in the 4th quarter to keep the ball and secure the win. If the game had gone another 5 minutes I don't know if DL would have won..

I might add in the 2003 title game Huntingdon's Terrance Bell set a state title rushing record and the Huntingdon Mustangs tied another record with 6 interceptions. You may not want to put that on the DL history though. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Terrence had a career night and Huntingdon totally dominated that game. I am aware of those two records and noted the 6 interceptions. I have a separate section for TSSAA Championship records. I hope that you and others will want to chronicle their football history where others can find and enjoy. I would like to see more schools get involved with updating and enhancing their sites. They teach computers and IT but don't practice it.

The compilation is now complete thru the 2008 season. Comments, additions and corrections are now being added.

The list includes Lipscomb's affiliation with schools in the old Nashville Interscholastic League, Class A Football, Members of Class 2A, and Class 3A. Read about the good and the bad of games past.

Some of the interesting stories included:

1970: Lipscomb coach in hospital sending phone messages to the sidelines during the game against Cohn High School.

No cell phones in those days.

1975: A post game brawl with Joelton High School (Caught on Film)

1989: Brentwood Academy's Carlton Flatt's run in with a Lipscomb Dad (on the Chain Gang) during the game during Hurricane Hugo.

1995: Lightening Strikes at Union City High School

2000: When Time Stood Still at Marshall County

2000: Lipscomb back fumbles 6 times against White House

2002: Lipscomb scores for Sweetwater

2005: Lexington High School fans completely fills up Lipscomb's stadium an hour before kickoff.

I would add DL's 16-0 loss to Smith County in 1999 because I think it was the last time DL was shutout. That is an incredible run for DL.

You know I thought about that game. It was an important region game. I'll ask my son about the importance of the game at the time.

It was important because it made DL a 2 seed instead of a 1 hence having to go to Tyner. SC was the 1 seed...DL was a 2 seed and GP was the 3 seed. They all had 1 region loss.

Nice read OP.

I played in that 05 game where Lexington fans were all over the place yelling "Red/White" an hour before the game. We ran into a better team, but I will never forget warming up to that crowd.

That game with Lexington is perhaps the largest crowd to see a sporting event on the High School Campus and probably the second or third largest on the entire Lipscomb University Campus. A couple of baseball games with Vanderbilt in the 70's drew crowds at Onion Dell in the 7500-10,000 range.

I think a guy from Lexington warned the Lipscomb fans in advance when he said he looked at our facilities online at the Mustangfanpage.com and said there were no where close to having enough seats in the stadium. He was right and the late arriving Lipscomb crowd was stuck standing in the endzones and where they could find a spot. The pregame atmosphere that Lexington brought was awesome. I talked to some of the players after the game and indicated the Lexington crowd actually fired them up.

Please tell the coach's wife that the purple seats have now been moved to the visitor's side. We would now for her to come up and sit in one of them.

The 2 games with Fulton in 2006 and 2007 were good games ... both teams with alot of class ... Lipscomb with its methodical . no mistake and outsmart other team mentality worked great in the 2007 game as the Falcons jumped offsides numerous times in the worst possible times ... the Lipscomb team completed a long 3rd down pass ( only pass completion ) in 3rd Qtr when Fulton had taken the lead and seemed to sway the momentum but the Rogers kid made a great catch and went on to win ... Falcons had not snapped a ball over punters head all year long but did this game but Lipscomb make least mistakes and definately deserved the win ... in the 2006 game Falcons size and power running game with Rogan took over in 2nd half ... good game also and both years the best team probably won the game ... hope we can see more of these games in future.
