Lane Kiffin at CPA / FRA Game

There's more talent per capita in Mississippi. UT has made it's recruiting living by signing most of the top 10 players in Tennessee, a few legacies or camp kids that they see something in and then picking off recruits from the other SEC states and a few national recruits. They can't fill the roster spots with 90% in state kids like Georgia, Florida, LSU and Alabama can. Well, they could, but they'd be hiring new coaches every 5 or 6 years.

Tennessee high school football is not where it could be in terms of producing DI talent.

Yeah it kinda stinks that UT is getting one of the greatest defensive minds in the history of football to be the new defensive coordinator, and it just so happens that it's the dudes dad which will be a great start for making the staff one that is united and "savvy".

What? His dad is Gene Stallings? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

On a serious note, Chavis' defense put in a stellar year. It just happened that the offense stank the place up. Its ironic that it was basically the same offense as last year less Ainge.

This thread should be moved to the SEC football forum. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I would argue that the same folks that were yelling for Fulmer's head this season were also yelling for a spread offense when Cutcliffe left last season. It's not the same offense, or at least it didn't start off running out of the same formations even. Whether the spread would ever work at UT or not, Dave Clawson ran a spread. His Richmond team won the National Championship in their division the year after he left and he was hired almost immediately after he was released as a head coach at another high profile school in the non BCS division. Clawson never got the chance to install his offense, recruit to that offense and run that offense. I don't think you can do it in one year.

Who knows what Kiffin will do. The strings being pulled the past few years tell me that Hamilton wanted Fulmer out a long time ago but had to get the boosters to go along with it. It was very Auburn like. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Now that his has finished taking visits, Z said that he will wait announce his college choice, UT or Ole Miss, on National Signing Day.

As of this week, Z is listed as the #13 TE in the nation on Scout.com, and the #2 TE in the nation on ESPN.com. Pretty incredible for a guy that was looking to play mid-major basketball a year ago right now. Z was a definite "sleeper" because his interest has been centered mostly around basketball, but he exploded on the scene this year when he was forced to play a big role on offense due to injuries in CPA's backfield, instead of DE, where he had spent the previous season (not that he wasn't an unstoppable DE last year). Obviously the SEC coaches see the endless potential he has, not to mention his 6'6'' 250lbs frame and great hands developed in basketball. Wherever he chooses to go, i'm sure he will have great opportunities and I wish him the best.
